AN EVENING WITH AUTHOR
PIPER KERMAN “ORANGE
IS THE NEW BLACK”
CLIFTON PARK – An Evening with Author Piper Kerman, “Orange Is the New Black” - The Friends of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Li-brary and the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library are co-sponsoring an Evening with Author Piper Kerman on Mon., Sept. 22 at 7pm at the Library. Ms. Kerman wrote the #1 New York Times Best Seller, “Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison”. With a career, boy-friend, and a loving family, Piper barely resembles the reckless young woman who delivered a suitcase of drug money ten years before. But that past has caught up with her. Convicted and sentenced to fifteen months at the infamous federal cor-rectional facility in Danbury, CT, the well-heeled Smith College alumna is now an inmate. From her first strip search to her final release, Kerman learns to navigate this strange world with its strictly enforced codes of behavior and arbitrary rules. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is RE-QUIRED to attend. To regis-ter visit www.cphlibrary.org then Calendar of Events or call the Library at 371-8622. Books will be available for purchase at the program by The Open Door Bookstore.

LouLou
Brindle Babies
Chanyia, Charla & CherraThese three sisters are Chocolate lab mixes. They are about 8-9
weeks old have had their first set of shots, worming and have been vet checked. They are all truly beautiful babies.
Loulou is a 25lb 6 month old walker/beagle mix. She was turned in to a
very high kill shelter down south. She has the most darling disposition and the people at the shelter just fell in
love with her. She is up to date on all shots and ready for her forever home.
These pups are from down south and were found abandoned in the night drop box of another high kill shelter. They are around 8-9 weeks old, have
had their first set of shots, worming and have been vet checked.

TOP CAR COLOR CHOICES
OF MEN AND WOMEN
(NAPS)—When it comes to car colors, men and women follow diff erent roads.
Colorful Findings
A recent study by iSeeCars.com of more than 30 million cars revealed some illumi-nating information about just how the sexes diverge:
• Surprisingly, the favored car color of men is red, a hue they have a greater prefer-ence for, versus women, by 12.3 percent. Next is orange, which men prefer more by 11.8 percent, and black by
9.6 percent.
• Metallic colors are more popular with women. As op-posed to men, women have a greater penchant for silver cars by 9.2 percent, brown by 9.1 percent and gold by 7.3 percent.
• Red and black, preferred car color picks of men, are also the top colors for sports cars. For pickup trucks, white is the most popular color.
• Orange, a less-common car color option but a favor-ite of men, is found on sports cars and coupés more than any other vehicle type.
The study was conducted by iSeeCars.com, a car search engine that helps consum-
ers fi nd the best deals on used cars.
What It All Means
“These study results could suggest that women are more practical in their choic-es. For the most part, they may just want to buy a rea-sonably priced car that safe-ly drives them around,” sug-gested Phong Ly, co-founder and CEO of iSeeCars.com. “On the other hand, for
men, perhaps they may be a bit more idealistic about cars, preferring something that has speed and is fun to drive.”

HELP FOR SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN WHO STUTTER IS AS CLOSE AS YOUR LIBRARY
CAPITAL DISTRICT - Stuttering is a frustrating and embarrassing problem for millions of peo-ple, but it can be especially tough on elementary school-age children. Help is available for parents, teachers, and speech-language pathologists at most public libraries in the form of a DVD designed to help school-age children who stutter. Some libraries have an older video version. The DVD features students from first through sixth grade, some of whom talk about their experiences with stuttering. They talk openly about the teasing they face from class-mates and how their stuttering sometimes makes them feel about themselves. The 38-minute DVD, entitled Therapy in Action: The School-age Child Who Stutters, produced by the 67-year-old nonprofit Stuttering Foundation is available free of charge to public libraries nationwide. Other libraries that will shelve it can contact the Foundation at 1-800-992-9392, e-mail [email protected], or visit www.stutteringhelp.org or www.tartarmudez.org.
