Why do I have to pay? While there are no dues or fees for membership in AA, it is the practice of any event to be self-supporting. Beaver Creek Getaway Weekend is a Special Event. It is not a regular AA meeting. Beaver Creek Getaway takes months of planning and preparation, and money is needed to hold this event. Expenses include renting the facility, food, beverages, snacks and coffee. It also includes printing of flyers, programs, badges, postage and supplies. We do not pay our Speakers, but we do provide for their expenses and lodging to attend the Getaway Weekend. The cost of the event is paid through Registration Fees. An event requires a substantial amount of money to present. Attendance is voluntary, and as responsible AA/Alanon/Alateen members, we pay our own way.
