The Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano • Established in 1975 (40 year anniversary) • 20 million pounds of food last year (thanks to your help!) • 96 cents of every dollar goes towards food programs • Currently providing food to about 300 partner agency programs • Food Bank Programs: F2K, FAP, FFC, CPP, SFP

Agency Contract Reminders
• Exchanging donated food or other products for money, property, or services
• Asking clients to volunteer in exchange for food • Removal of donated food or other products from an agency for
personal use • Transferring Food Bank product to agencies that are not partner
agencies of the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano • Using Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano products and/or
community donated products in a manner not related to serving the ill, needy, or infants
Agency Contract Reminders cont.
• Using Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano products and community donated products for fundraising meals (ex: spaghetti dinners or bake sales)
• Improperly storing or transporting donated food or other product
• Hoarding or improperly stockpiling donated food or other product
• Failure to submit Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano Monthly Service Reports on a regular basis

• Failure to check your inventory for recalled product in response to recall notices
• No shows to appointments made with Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano staff
• Any other violation of the Agency Agreement Form signed by the partner agency and Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano
• Revocation of 501c3 status

Monitoring
• Site visit at least once every two years
• Site visits last between 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on the need of the agency
• Sites have different issues: security, heat, location, resources, space, volunteers, etc…
What We Look for at a Monitoring Visit
• Signage and Times Posted • A great support staff • Cleanliness , Organization and Adequate Space • Sign in Sheet or way to track numbers served • A secured pantry • All Food at least 6 inches off the floor • Food Rotation • Thermometers in Refrigerators and Freezers • Evidence of Pest or Rodents • Client Respect • 501c3

Liability & The Good Samaritan Act
• If an agency distributes or serves food to a client in good faith, and it happens to make the client sick, the agency is covered under the Good Samaritan Act
• If an agency knowingly distributes or serves food that could be harmful to a client, the agency is not covered by the Good Samaritan Act and could be held liable for the harm that is caused.

Recall Procedures
• When your agency receives a recall notice: • Please read the recall notice to find out which product is
affected • Determine whether your agency has any of this product • Destroy any recalled product you find in your agency • Notify clients of the recall if you suspect your agency has
distributed any of the recalled product
