Defining LMIS

A logistics management information system (LMIS) is a system that is used to collect, organize, and present logistics data gathered from all levels of the health system. An LMIS enables logisticians to collect the data needed to make informed decisions that will ultimately improve product availability patient treatment.OpenLMIS and Logistimo are examples of LMIS applications in use in Africa and Asia. They are optimized for supply chain management

Can DHIS2 be an electronic LMIS?

Exchanging Data between HMIS & LMIS

Motivation: The reality of integrating HMIS & LMIS data

• Despite great interest in combining HMIS & LMIS data, there are few country examples where this is routinely implemented.

• Thus the UNCoLSC decided to test HMIS/LMIS integration projects with the 3 UNCoLSC-funded information systems.

• Tanzania & Senegal chosen as initial deployment sites.– User requirement gathering started in Tanzania in January

2015– Initial conversations started in Senegal in September 2015– Overall intent of the project is document the real-world

experiences, considerations and lessons learned to assist deployments in other countries.

TheUniversityofDaresSalaam(UDSM)has ledtheprocessofdevelopingdashboards,whichintegratespecificdatapointsacrosseLMISandDHIS2.

Practical example: RMNCH

LMIS data compared with service data(sample dashboard graph with sample data)

National level dashboard - consumption data has been pulled into DHIS2 and dashboards developed to compare cases of PPH and retained placenta and consumption of oxytocin, ergometrine, and misoprostal

Practical example: RMNCH

Council (district) level dashboard

Users can drill down into data of one council (district) to examine the consumption and services data
