2.1 ScopeThis guide provides a description of the functionalities of the structured command line interface (SCLI) of Flexi NG. This guide also lists all available SCLI commands, divided into topic categories, and describes the syntax, parameters, values and roles of the commands.

3 Introduction to the structured command line interface (SCLI)

3.1 OverviewFlexi NG uses a structured command line interface (SCLI) for configuration, administra-tion, and monitoring tasks. The SCLI shell of Flexi NG, fsclish, is an extension of the command line interface that makes it easier to find and browse commands. With SCLI, the user can browse available commands in a command syntax tree view, use command autocompletion, and access context sensitive help.

This SCLI Reference Guide describes the use of the Flexi NG fsclish SCLI shell and lists the available commands, parameters and values.

3.1.1 SCLI usage modesThere are three different usage modes for the SCLI:

interactive: the default fsclish shell mode with command autocompletion and context sensitive help

non-interactive batch file mode: a batch file is used to run a group of commands from the login shell (the commands in the batch file are executed in fsclish, and the prompt returns to the login shell after the commands have been executed)

non-interactive single command mode: single commands are run directly from the login shell (the commands are executed in fsclish, and the prompt returns to the login shell after the commands have been executed)

The instructions in this User Guide assume that the interactive mode (fsclish shell) is used, but Flexi NG can be operated also by using the commands in the non-interactive single command and batch file modes. For instructions on using the non-interactive modes, see Operating the SCLI.

3.1.2 User rolesFlexi NG configuration is controlled by user groups and user accounts with varying access right settings. The following three user roles are preconfigured into Flexi NG:

fngmonitor - Monitor user, can only view configuration settings but not change them

fngmanage - Administrative user, can configure and view all other settings except the subscriber trace

fngtracer - Trace user, full access to the whole configuration, including sub-scriber trace information.

3.1.3 Basic usageTo use the SCLI tools, you must log in to the correct node with a user account that has appropriate permissions to execute commands. To display the list of top level com-mands, press the tab key.

The generic syntax of one command line is:

The segment is a top-level command describing the type of operation performed by a particular sub-module of the system (for example, set, show, or delete). For a list of all top-level commands, see Top-level SCLI commands below.

The segment defines the target functional area. For example, ng signifies Flexi NG.

The segment specifies the rest of the command.

The SCLI commands are stored as a tree of commands. The command tree can be dis-played by executing the command cmdtree. You can follow the command tree branches by writing a command and pressing the tab key. The system does not execute the command, but instead shows all possible continuations of the command. If there is only one possible continuation of the command, the SCLI autocompletes the command and you can continue editing from that point.

There are two possibilities for executing a command. The first possibility is to write the whole command with all parameters in the command line and press enter . The command is then executed. For example:

root@CLA-0 [FP] > show ng charging charging-profile enter

The second possibility is to move through the command tree by pressing enter after every written command. This moves the user through the branches of the command tree to a lower level. Note that this is possible only for commands that are shown in cmdtree as a relative root. Relative root is indicated in cmdtree with a R character at the end of the command:

show has { [regex]? [filter ]? [noerror]? [logerrors]?)(R)

The following example shows moving trough the command tree by using enter after every command:

To return to the upper level, enter the exit command. Note that in this case it is usually possible to get to the domain level of the command, but then you are asked for the rest of the command with all mandatory parameters. To show all possible continuations of a command, press the tab key.

g Entering the exit command at the top level of the command tree quits the fsclish SCLI shell.

The command notation defines mandatory and optional parameters with angle and square brackets:
