CLEVELAND CAVALIERS TEAM NOTES

SPREAD THE WEALTH: In a wire-to-wire 108-94 win over the Chicago Bulls on MLK Day at The Q, all five players in the Cavaliers' starting lineup scored at least 15 points:

LeBron James (26), J.R. Smith (20), Kyrie Irving (18), Kevin Love (16) and Timofey Mozgov (15). It's the first time in almost 22 years that the starting five for the Cavaliers all scored at least 15 points in the same game. The last such instance was on March 16, 1993 against the 76ers: Mark Price (20 points), Gerald Wilkins (19), Larry Nance (19),Brad Daugherty (19) and Craig Ehlo (16). (Elias Sports Bureau)

WINNING IN L.A.: The Cavaliers' back-to-back wins in Los Angeles over the Lakers (Jan. 15) and Clippers (Jan. 16) marked just the fourth time that a team won road games at

Staples Center on consecutive days. The Grizzlies turned that trick in December 2004, as did the Mavericks in both October 2009 and April 2014. (Elias Sports Bureau)

21 & OVER: Kyrie Irving has scored at least 21 points in 10 of his last 13 games (since Dec. 23). Over that 13-

game stretch, he is averaging 23.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.6 steals in 39.2 minutes. On the season, Irving is the highest scoring point guard in the Eastern Conference and ranks 4th among all NBA point guards at 21.1 points per game.

DYNAMIC DUO: Kyrie Irving and LeBron James are each averaging at least 20.0 points and 5.0 assists per game

this year, and are on pace to becoming the 5th duo in NBA history to accomplish that feat. The two have also scored at least 30 points each in the same game three times this season (at UTA 11/5, vs. NOP 11/10 and at LAC 1/16).

TRISTAN’S TAKEOVER: Since Dec. 26 (14 games), Tristan Thompson is averaging 12.0 points on .536 shooting and 10.1 rebounds (4.6 offensive) in 35.3 minutes. In 2014-15,

Thompson currently ranks 4th in the NBA in total offensive rebounds (160) and 5th in average (3.8). He has also now played in 248 consecutive regular season games dating back to Feb. 10, 2012.

• A FORCE AT STAPLES: In a 126-121 road win over the Clippers on Jan. 16, Tristan Thompson poured in a season-high 24 points on 10-12 (.833) shooting, 12 rebounds and two blocks in 40 minutes of work. The last Cavs player to shoot at least .833 from the field while recording at least 24 points and 12 rebounds was J.J. Hickson (24 pts/14 rebs) on Jan. 28, 2011 vs. Denver.

• OH CANADA: In a road win against the Raptors on Dec. 5, Toronto native Tristan Thompson poured in season highs of 21 points and 14 rebounds (nine offensive) in 33 minutes off the bench. The last Cavs player to tally at least 21 points and 14 rebounds off the bench was Ben Poquette, who did it on Jan. 26, 1985 against Denver (22 points, 14 rebounds). (Elias Sports Bureau)

• CLEANUP MAN: On Halloween night in Chicago, Tristan Thompson came off the bench and grabbed a franchise-record tying 12 offensive rebounds, becoming the first Cavs player to ever reach that amount as a bench player. The previous high for a Cavs reserve was 10 by Kenny Carr (11/28/79) and John Williams (12/11/91). The last NBA player to pull down 12 offensive rebounds as a reserve was Denver’s J.J. Hickson, who had 15 offensive rebounds on 2/25/14 vs. Portland. In the 114-108 overtime win, Thompson finished the night with a double-double of 16 points on 7-13 (.538) shooting, 13 rebounds and two blocks in 36 minutes off the bench.

VERSUS THE EAST: The Cavs are 16-9 against the Eastern Conference in 2014-15, including 7-4 on the road. Cleveland’s nine-game winning streak over the East from Nov. 24

to Dec. 15 was tied for the 4th longest in franchise history.

THE LOVE MACHINE: Kevin Love has a team-high 22 double-doubles (tied-5th in NBA) and is averaging 17.6 points and a team-high 10.4 rebounds (10th in NBA) in 35.6

minutes in his first season as a Cavalier. He also ranks 6th in defensive rebounds per game at 8.2. Love is the only player in 2014-15 to make at least 50 three-pointers with averages of at least 10 points and 10 rebounds.

• NEW YEAR’S LOVE: Since the calendar flipped to 2015, Kevin Love is off to a solid start, notching six double-doubles and averaging 20.7 points and 11.3 rebounds in 34.8 minutes through his first nine games of the new year.

• A LOVE-LY MILESTONE: After nailing three three-pointers at Sacramento on Jan. 11, Kevin Love became the 25th player 6’10” or taller in league history to reach 500 triples for his career. Love, who is averaging 12.0 rebounds and has 504 treys in his career, is one of three players in NBA history to average at least 10.0 rebounds and make 500 three-pointers, joining Larry Bird (10.0 rpg, 649 3FG) and Charles Barkley (11.7 rpg, 538 3FG). Love is also the fastest player in league history to reach 4,000 rebounds and 500 three-pointers (401 games). Prior to Love, the player who reached 4,000+ rebounds and 500+ three-pointers in the fewest games was Antoine Walker (448). (Elias)

• FIRST LOVE: In the first quarter this season, Kevin Love is averaging a team-high 7.3 points (6th-best in the NBA) on .505 shooting, including .446 (29-65) from the three-point line and .928 (64-69) from the foul line. He has scored in double figures in 12 first quarters on the year. LeBron James ranks 9th with 7.0 points in the first quarter this season.

• BIG NUMBERS: In the Jan. 5 game at Philadelphia, Kevin Love became the 1st NBA player this season to put up at least 28 points and 19 rebounds in a game. The last time a Cavs player accomplished that feat was almost seven years ago when LeBron James had 31 points and 19 boards on Jan. 11, 2008 versus Charlotte.

• LOVE-LY DEBUT: Kevin Love registered a double-double in his first action as a Cavalier after posting 19 points and a game-high 14 rebounds in 38 minutes against New York on Oct. 30. He is just the 7th player in the last 30 years to notch a double-double in his Cavaliers debut.

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS TEAM NOTES (CONTINUED)

THE ONLY ONE: LeBron James is the only player in the NBA this season to shoot .490 or better from the field with averages of at least 25.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.0

assists. He is the top scorer in the Eastern Conference (26.0, 2nd in NBA) and ranks 4th in the East in assists per game (7.3, 10th in NBA). James already has eight games of at least 10 assists this season (also 12 double-doubles) after having only seven such games in 2013-14 (12 double-doubles).

• 24,000 POINTS: LeBron James became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 24,000 points (30 years and 17 days old) with his three-pointer at the 4:35 mark of the fourth quarter during a 126-121 win at L.A. Clippers on Jan. 16. James finished the night with 32 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals in 42 minutes of work. Kobe Bryant previously held the record as he was 31 years and 75 days when he reached 24,000 points on Nov. 6, 2009. (Elias Sports Bureau)

• KING JAMES PASSES SIR CHARLES: Against Brooklyn on Dec. 19, LeBron James’ three-pointer with 3:59 left to play in the first quarter moved him past Charles Barkley (23,757) for 23rd all-time on the NBA career scoring list. James currently has 24,028 points and is 341 away from surpassing Allen Iverson (24,368) for No. 22 on the list.

• THE PRICE IS RIGHT: LeBron James surpassed Mark Price as the franchise’s leader in three-point field goals made with his first triple, his 803rd as a Cavalier, on Dec. 12 against New Orleans. James is also nearing Mark Price (4,206) for first place on the Cavs’ all-time assists list (needs 155 to pass him).

• PASSING THE MAILMAN: After a 31-point performance at Utah on Nov. 5, LeBron James had his 576th straight double figure scoring outing to pass Karl Malone (575) for the 3rd longest streak in NBA history. James streak began on Jan. 6, 2007 and is currently at 605. His 600th straight double figure scoring game came after a 29-point night at Orlando on Dec. 26.

• ANOTHER P.O.W. HONOR FOR JAMES: LeBron James has won the Eastern Conference Player of Week award twice this season (Nov. 10-16 & Nov. 24-30). His most recent one was the 47th time James has earned Player of the Week accolades in his career, the most in NBA history. It also marked the 45th time in franchise history a player has earned Player of the Week honors and the 28th time James has earned the honor as a member of the Cavaliers.

Week ending Nov. 30: James led Cleveland to a perfect 3-0 record, averaging 25.7 points on .510 shooting, including .800 (24-30) from the foul line, 5.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 2.3 steals in 33.0 minutes per game. Cleveland was the only team in the East to have a perfect record, winning games by an average margin of 23.3 points. He was the only NBA player to average at least 25 points, five rebounds and eight assists, and led the league in first quarter scoring at 11.3 points. His plus/minus was +57, which was tied for third in the Eastern Conference, trailing only teammates Kyrie Irving (+78) and Kevin Love (+68).

Week ending Nov. 16: James led Cleveland to a perfect 3-0 record that week, averaging 35.0 points on .594 shooting, including .500 (8-16) from beyond the arc, 7.0 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 1.0 block in 36.7 minutes per game. James led the league in points per game, while also being the only player to average at least 30 points,

seven rebounds and seven assists.

• DROP 40: LeBron James has 11 games of at least 30 points this season, including two 40-point outings (both on the road). He put up 41 points on 16-27 (.593) shooting against Boston on Nov. 14 and another 41-point performance on 17-24 (.708) shooting at New Orleans on Dec. 12. James has 54 regular season games of at least 40 points and 12 in the playoffs.

MAKING THEIR MARK: In a road win over Orlando on Dec. 26, LeBron James and Shawn

Marion each registered milestones. James notched his 6,000th career assist with his fourth dish on the night, becoming the 32nd player in NBA history to record 6,000 assists for his career and just the 3rd player 6’8” or taller to achieve that mark. He also became the 4th player in NBA history to record at least 20,000 points, 6,000 rebounds and 6,000 assists, joining Kobe Bryant, John Havlicek and Oscar Robertson. With his second rebound against Orlando, Marion become the 36th player in NBA history (4th active) to reach 10,000 career rebounds and just the 8th player in league history to record 10,000 career rebounds as a player 6’7” or shorter. Marion is one of four players in league history to total 17,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, 1,500 steals and 1,000 blocks (Hakeem Olajuwon, Karl Malone and Kevin Garnett). He is the only player ever to tally 17,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, 1,000 blocks and 500 three-pointers made.

EIGHT BALL: J.R. Smith hit a season-high eight three-pointers against Phoenix on Jan. 13, while also finishing with season

highs in points (29) and steals (4) in 39 minutes of work. It was the 11th time in his career he’s made at least eight three-pointers in a game, which is the most in NBA history and ahead of Ray Allen (9), Dennis Scott (7) and Stephen Curry (7). His eight three-pointers were tied for the 2nd-most in franchise history. Smith also tied to team’s record for triples in a quarter with five makes in the third period. (Elias Sports Bureau)

START OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT: J.R. Smith made his first start as a Cavalier in the Jan. 9 game at Golden State and

ended up with 27 points, while grabbing five rebounds in 42 minutes of work. Smith is just the 6th player in Cavaliers history to score at least 27 points in their first start, joining Johnny Davis (33 on 10/30/84 at DET), Jeremy Pargo (28 on 11/21/12 vs. PHI), C.J. Miles (28 on 12/11/12 vs. LAL), Ron Anderson (27 on 10/26/84 at PHI) and Walt Wesley (27 on 11/7/70 at BUF). (Elias)

DOUBLE-DOUBLE TRIO: The Cavaliers have had three players record a double-double in the same game four times this season (vs. IND 11/29/14, at TOR 12/5/14, vs. DET

12/28/14, vs. CHI 1/19/15).

ASSISTS MEN: In the Dec. 21 win over Memphis, Kyrie Irving (17 pts/11 asts) and LeBron James (25 pts/11 asts) became the first Cavs duo to register points-assists double-

doubles since April 6, 2010 vs. Toronto (James 19/13, Mo Williams 14/12). The last time two Cavs players had at least 15 points and 10 assists in a game was Jan. 19, 2010, also vs. Toronto (James 28/11, Mo Williams 22/10). (Elias)

STREAKS: The Cavs’ eight-game winning streak from Nov. 24-Dec. 9 was their longest since March 2010 (also eight games). Cleveland’s six straight wins at The Q from Nov. 24-

Dec. 15 was their longest since an 11-game home winning streak from Feb. 23-Apr. 6, 2010.

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS TEAM NOTES (CONTINUED)

MIKEY ON FIRE: In his first start of the season on Dec. 19 against Brooklyn, Mike Miller finished with a season-high 21 points on 7-8 (.875) shooting from three-point range in 34

minutes. It was Miller’s highest career three-point percentage when hitting at least seven triples in a single game. The last Cavalier to make at least seven three-pointers and miss one triple was Daniel Gibson (7-8 vs. Utah on 12/20/10), while the last NBA player to do it was Kevin Love (8-9 vs. SAS on 12/13/13). Miller’s 21 points were also the most points scored by a Cavalier on all three-pointers. The previous club record for such a thing was 15 points, done five times by Damon Jones, twice by Daniel Gibson and once by Alonzo Gee. (Elias Sports Bureau)

COMEBACK KINGS: On the season, the Cavs have won after overcoming eight double-digit deficits (trailed by 12 points vs. New Orleans on 11/10, 19 points at Boston on

11/14, 11 points vs. Milwaukee 12/2, 11 points at New York on 12/4, 14 points vs. Toronto on 12/9, 11 points vs. Brooklyn on Dec. 19, 10 points at Orlando on 12/26, 11 points at Charlotte on 1/2). On Nov. 14, the Cavs overcame a 17-point fourth quarter deficit by outscoring the Boston Celtics 38-20 in the final frame to pick up the 122-121 win on the road. The Wine and Gold trailed by as many as 19 points in the period. The last time Cleveland overcame a fourth quarter deficit by that much was March 10, 2009 against the L.A. Clippers (19-point deficit). (Elias Sports Bureau)

BLACKJACK: The Cavaliers scored the first 21 points of their 97-88 win over Charlotte on Dec. 15. The last NBA team to score at least the first 21 points of a game was Portland,

who opened up a 22-0 lead against Boston on February 21, 2004. (Elias Sports Bureau)

GLASS CLEANERS: In the Cavs’ first ever win at the Barclays Center on Dec. 8, the Cavs outrebounded the Nets by 22 (55-33), their largest margin on the glass since Feb. 28,

2014 vs. Utah (+25, 56-31). Three Cavaliers pulled down at least 12 rebounds in the win (Love-14, Varejao-14, Thompson-12), which was the first time that has happened since Jan. 3, 1984 against Milwaukee (Jeff Cook-12, Paul Thompson-13, Lonnie Shelton-12). Thompson (8 offensive) and Varejao (7 offensive) became the first pair of Cavs to pull down at least seven offensive boards in a game since Nov. 7, 2006 vs. Atlanta (Zydrunas Ilgauskas-7, Drew Gooden-7). (Elias Sports Bureau)

DOUBLING UP: In a 105-91 victory at Toronto on Dec. 5, The Wine and Gold had three players record a double-double (James-24 pts & 13 asts, Love-15 pts & 13 rebs,

Thompson-21 pts & 14 rebs) for the 2nd time this season (11/29/14 vs. Indiana). But it was the first time since Jan. 30, 2005 that three Cavs players had a double-double with at least 15 points (Drew Gooden, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Jeff McInnis vs. Milwaukee). The Cavs would later repeat this feat during a 108-94 win against Chicago on Jan. 19 when Love (16 pts/12 rebs), Timofey Mozgov (15 pts/15 rebs) and Kyrie Irving (18pts/12 asts) each garnered a double-double. (Elias Sports Bureau)

PUT 20 ON THE SCOREBOARD: In the Nov. 17 game against the Denver Nuggets, the Cavaliers had four players score 20 or more points (James - 22, Irving - 20, Love - 20

and Waiters - 20) for the first time since March 3, 2004 at Dallas (James - 28, Ilgauskas - 26, Boozer - 23, Nailon - 23). In the 111-108 win over Milwaukee on Dec. 2, the Wine and Gold had three players score 26 points or more (Irving-28, Love-27 and James-26). The last time that feat was accomplished in a single game was Dec. 29, 2006 when James (32), Donyell Marshall (29) and Larry Hughes (26) each scored more than 26 in a 109-99 victory at home, which was also against the Bucks. (Elias)

A BUNCH OF FIVES: Against the Hawks on Nov. 15, Cleveland dished out a season-high 39 assists, which were two shy of tying the Quicken Loans Arena record (41 vs. Detroit

on 4/9/14). Five Cavs players dished out at least five or more assists (Waiters-8, James-7, Irving-5, Love-5, Varejao-5). The last time a Cavaliers squad was able to accomplish that was on Jan. 4, 1997 vs. Indiana (Bob Sura-7, Bobby Phills-5, Chris Mills-5, Danny Ferry-5, Terrell Brandon-5). (Elias Sports Bureau)

RAINING THREES: In the Cavs’ win over Atlanta on Nov. 15, Cleveland had a record-setting night from the three-point line after shooting 19-31 (.613) from deep. • The Wine and Gold set a franchise record (19) and tied a Quicken Loans Arena record (Orlando 19 triples, 12/28/10) for three-pointers in a game. • The Cavs connected on their first 11 three-pointers, becoming the first NBA team to complete that feat since Detroit hit their first 11 triples at Denver on 3/21/2012. (Elias Sports

Bureau) • The Cavaliers went 9-for-9 from three-point range in the first quarter, which are the most three-point field goals made without a miss for one team in one quarter since the NBA

added the three-point shot in 1979-80. (Elias Sports Bureau) • The Cavs’ .613 mark from the three-point line was a season-high. • Eight Cavs players made at least one three-pointer. • Four Cavs players made at least three three-pointers (James-4, Irving-4, Harris-4, Love-3), which was the first time that feat was accomplished by the Cavs since Jan. 1, 2012 vs. the

Nets (Jamison-3, Irving-3, Gee-3, Gibson-5). (Elias Sports Bureau) • Three Cavs players made at least four three-pointers, which was the first time that feat was accomplished in franchise history. (Elias Sports Bureau)

• The 127 points scored on the night were the most the Cavs have scored in regulation since Dec. 11, 1999, also against the Hawks.

TWO OF A KIND: In the 118-111 win over New Orleans on Nov. 10, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James each

posted a stat line of 32 points and nine assists, becoming the first ever duo in Cavs history to tally those numbers in the same game. The last NBA teammates to record at least 32 points and nine assists was Minnesota’s Ricky Davis (35 pts, 9 asts) and Kevin Garnett (33 pts, 10 asts) on March 4, 2007 vs. Boston and that game went into two overtimes. (Elias Sports Bureau)

SOLID AT THE FOUL LINE: At Utah on Nov. 5, Cleveland shot 34-40 (.850) from the free throw line, which was its highest percentage with at least 34 made free throws since

Nov. 30, 2005 vs. L.A. Clippers (40-47, .851). Also against Utah, LeBron James (12-12 FTs), Kevin Love (9-11 FTs) and Kyrie Irving (8-10 FTs) became the first trio of Cavs players to have at least 10 free throw attempts in the same game since Feb. 15, 2007 vs. L.A. Lakers (LeBron James, Larry Hughes and Eric Snow). (Elias Sports Bureau)

IRVING NAMED 2014 USA BASKETBALL MALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR: After helping to lead USA Basketball to a gold medal at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World

Cup and earning tournament MVP honors along the way, Kyrie Irving was named the 2014 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year. The USA Basketball Board of Directors is responsible for selecting its annual award winners. As a member of the 2014 USA Basketball World Cup Team, Irving started in all nine games and averaged 12.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals in 24.4 minutes per game to help lead the USA to a 9-0 record and gold medal from Aug. 30-Sept. 14 in Bilbao, Barcelona and Madrid, Spain. The first-place finish qualified the USA for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. Irving was named MVP after a gold-medal-game performance that saw him score a game-high 26 points and record four assists while shooting 10-of-13 from the field, including a USA World Cup record 6-of-6 from 3-point. The 2014 gold medal was Irving's first title in senior-level international competition, and his second gold medal overall with USA Basketball. USA Basketball's Male Athlete of the Year Award was established in 1980 to recognize a USA Basketball athlete who, during the year of the award, made a significant impact on the success of his team's performance.
