What a fantastic morning. Cake, friends and we raised £347.09!! Our annual coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Relief was a great success. A huge thank you to everyone who brought cakes, bought cakes and ate cakes. A wonderful atmosphere and we raised a fantastic amount for an amazing charity. Cleve House News Autumn 2017 What a superb day! Sunshine, lots to see and a won- derful atmosphere. It is the first time Cleve House has had a stall at this annual event but we will cer- tainly be there next year. The stall was packed with memorabilia from the past 80 years including photographs, school hand- books and prospectusacross the decades. The memorabilia attracted lots of people to the stall. It was wonderful to meet so many past pupils— some from the 1940’s and 1950’s who took great delight in finding themselves in the photos and were excited to hear that a past pupils association is being formed to share all of those memories and keep in touch (anyone you know please ask them to send their email into the office). The Connect Four game and Cleve Bear colouring attracted lots of young visitors, hopeful- ly a few future pupils. It was lovely to see so many present pupils, parents and grandpar- ents enjoying the glorious sunshine and atmosphere. Come and see us next August Bank Holiday Monday.

What a superb day! Sunshine, lots to see and a won-derful atmosphere. It is the first time Cleve House has had a stall at this annual event but we will cer-tainly be there next year. On Friday 22nd September we had a non-uniform day to help raise money towards research into genet-ic illness. Our day started with an assembly with a story and a discussion about good health. Reception followed assembly with games in the playground enjoying the sunshine.

We raised £96.60 having fun a sup-porting a good cause.

On Wednesday 4th October Reception, Form 1, Form 2 and Form 3 all enjoyed a theatre workshop from the company ’Perform’. The theme of the workshop was ’Under the Sea’ so the children had lots of fun pretending to be lots of different sea creatures and helping to capture the deadly sea monster! It was a thoroughly exciting workshop enjoyed by everyone. “My favourite part was when we all sat in a circle and made a wish with a big pearl” - Ben F2 “I liked swimming around in the deep sea and freezing in-to a starfish” - Lacey F2

“On Thursday 21st September we went to Clifton College for a clown workshop. We set off in the mini bus, when we got there we were greeted by a man called Mr Hatton. He gave us a little tour and then we went to lunch. It was very yummy. After lunch we vis-ited the chapel. It had beautiful stain glass windows and over a thousand seats, a pulpit where who ever was doing the service stood. Next we walked up and down the street and collected conkers. Then we went into the prep school up some stairs and into a drama studio. We met the lady named Bianca, we played a few games and then we got give some red roses and after we were told how to put them on we put them on. Then we learned the 5 different clown types, little shy clown, little adventurous clown, big confident clown, little hipper clown and big hipper con-fident clown. After we learnt and had a go at acting out the clowns we learnt how to inter-act with objects it was fun then we played a game by making actions and copying them but looking at the people watching but we weren’t allowed to look at the leader. Then we pretended to be one of the clowns, then we had to learn the language called Gibber-ish and Gobble de Gook, which clowns speak and at the end we all had a go at acting eve-rything we learnt together. We all did very well. On our way out we went through the dormitories, the girls was white and pink and the boys was green and turquoise, then we came back to the mini bus and said thank you to Mr Hatton for a brilliant day and for showing us the beautiful chapel. Then we went back to school and went home after a great and tiring day.” - by Eleanor F5

Conkers Collecting conkers on a windy day Orange leaves falling with elegance No one could ever find the shiny conkers in the leafy grass Knowing that we would find loads of conkers Elegantly the conkers would fall off the tree Running to the nearest tree to see the conkers on the floor Something happened to all those conkers, I wonder where they are or are the conkers still there - Gracie F5

Homelessness I smell the stench of horrid disgust repeatedly as people glance in disgust, in disgust I hear the carefree birds and I am reduced to trickling tears as I reminisce the old days I see delighted children walking with their family and when they change course to avoid me I feel desolate and on the brink, on the brink I feel the wet wind whipping my face and my ragged, torn clothes offer no pro-tection I slump, feeling the wet concrete on my face. I give up hope and wish for some-one to end my misery My misery - Yusuf F6

Rounders Report—Torwood House “On Tuesday 26th September Cleve House and Torwood went down to Redcatch Park to play a rounders match. Cleve was excited to meet up with their friends from Torwood and play against them. While Mr. Corrish set up the posts we ran round the whole pitch to warm up. Afterwards Jemima and I did rock, paper, scissors to decide on who was going to go first at batting or fielding. Unfortunately Jemima won and chose fielding. Everybody did good with trying to hit the ball but some people ran others out! After having a few goes at batting I got the hang of it and hit some really far ones and got two rounders for our team! When eventu-ally everyone on our team was out it was Torwood’s go at batting. Everyone got in their place and we started to play. There was one boy in Torwood who could hit some really far ones and he got loads of rounders for his team as well. Unluckily, we had to swap round be-fore we could get everyone else in their team out, but if we didn’t swap round we wouldn’t have enough time to do two rounds. We started to bat but unfortunately the same boy who was good at batting ended up to be good at catching, and eventually all our team was out. We swapped round and we started to focus properly this time, we moved round our places more often and worked better as a team. We managed to get a few people out but then it was time to go back for match tea. We devoured our sandwiches, cakes, squash and crisps and after said thank you for Torwood for coming. I would also like to thank Mr. Corrish to help organize it and also to Mr. Wardle and Mrs. Seagrove. We all had an amazing day! Thank you.” - Amelie F6
