The ROSARY…and God’s Will be Done…
Holy Week has arrived with the addition of a rather unique problem. The Feast of the Annunciation is traditionally celebrated on March 25th…nine months to the day before Christmas. This year, March 25th also happens to be Good Friday. To solve the dilemma, the Catholic Church has moved the celebration of the Annunciation (for this year)
to April 4th. In celebrating the Feast of the Annunciation, we reflect on the words of Mary: “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy will.” She didn’t know…she didn’t understand…but, she willingly accepted God’s will. There is a striking similarity to the words of Jesus as He prayed to the Father at Gethsemane. “Not as I will, but, as you will.” How defining are these words? We hear Jesus and Mary both making the same commitment to Our Father in Heaven. Stop for a moment to pray Our Lord’s Prayer. There it is again. THY WILL BE DONE…they are beautiful words and should always be on our lips, in our hearts and in our minds. Thank you Father in Heaven for the gift of life. We are here to know You, to love You, and to serve You. THY WILL be DONE.Remember, you and your family are always invited to take part in our weekly Rosary for Peace, every Saturday at 4:35 p.m., just before Mass. REMINDER…NO 5:00 MASS OR ROSARY ON HOLY SATURDAY.
Gifts for the Homebound: Attention, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion! Please take the Easter favors to your homebound and nursing home residents this week. They can be found in the back room of the Sacristy. Questions, contact Carol Svatora at 366-3060.

Spiritual Adoption of an Unborn Child: The Respect Life Group would like to invite families to join in the opportunity to save the lives of unborn babies from abortion by praying the Spiritual Adoption Prayer, every day. Prayer cards and a beautiful flyer on the development of the fetus growing in its mother’s womb will be available at all exits. The prayer (initially offered by Bishop Fulton J. Sheen) is said for a nine-month period beginning on the Feast of the Annunciation, through the celebration of Christ’s birth, December 25th. Saying prayers with young children (even just a decade of the Rosary) can be a blessing and an amazing opportunity for all the family. You may even want to give your spiritually adopted baby a name. There have been reports of people actually meeting a child who was adopted by a family with the same name they chose for the “spiritually adopted” baby! Please pray for mothers to love the baby growing in her womb and to realize that the child is truly a gift from God.

Ministry Reflections on the Great Commission & the Great Commandment
We continue sharing the responses of ministry groups to the posed questions. A running list of published reflections can be found on our website under LATEST NEWS.
FAITH FORMATION & EDUCATIONAdult Bible Study
1. How does this committee or group respond to the Great Commission, the Great Commandment and the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy in our activities and outreach?
Through our study of the teaching of Holy Scripture we seek to more fully realize and embrace our mission and commission to follow the cross of Jesus. We engage in outreach in living, and sometimes sharing the lessons about, the teaching we come to know or affirm in our faith.
2. How is prayer an important component of our meeting time together?
Prayer is the center of our gathering. We begin with prayer to the Holy Spirit to enlighten the eyes of our faith to receive all that God wishes for us. Then we study and reflect on His Sacred Word. Conversation and sharing helps us to glean how we can accept and embody in our daily life the lessons we discover. We close with prayer and blessing—sending us forth to live and proclaim the Good News.
3. How do our activities/programs address the needs of our parish?
We do not have a list of activities and scheduled programming. We seek to grow as pilgrims on the journey, live the faith, inform our family, friends, and sometimes strangers about the truths the Bible teaches and pray for our parish and the world to grow together in love and peace.
4. How do our activities/programs address the needs of those outside our parish?
See #3
5. Do we have enough people in our committee/group to accomplish our goal?
“Wherever two or three are gathered…”God is there. We trust that God will use us as His instruments however few and unworthy we be.
6. Are there activities or programs we sponsor which no longer seem to be effective or address current needs?
Enlightenment and prayer will always be a necessary element for growth and harmony. We let the Lord lead.
Are there new needs in our parish we would like to address? How might we do that? We regularly invite and encourage others to join our group. Understanding the Holy Word of God is essential for all God’s children. The group gathered offers ideas, questions, insights, and experiences that combine to enrich, enlighten, and challenge us to be models and, occasionally heralds, of the truth of our faith. We pray for God’s blessing.
