Gallium Nitride (GaN) Technology Through Competitive
Acquisition
• Materiel Solution TBD; dependent upon LTAMD
Capability (LTAMDC) Analysis of Alternatives (AoA)
• Potential Materiel Solutions to meet future requirements
documented in Operational Need Statements and
Capability Development Documents
• Meet Evolving Threat
• Address Parts Obsolescence
• Improve Reliability
• Reduce Operational Cost
• Reduction in Maintenance Tasks/Training Complexity
LTAMDC AoA Status
Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor
(LTAMDS)
LTAMDS Description / Objectives
• LTAMDS Received a Material Development Decision
Approval in November 2014 and is Undergoing an
AoA in Preparation for a Planned Milestone A
decision in 2QFY16
• Two of the primary objectives of the Lower Tier Air &
Missile Defense Capability (LTAMDC) AoA
• Meet future requirements
• Make use of Modern Active Electronically Scanned
Array (AESA) Gallium Nitride (GAN) technology
that complements the AIAMD Integrated Battle
Command System (IBCS) network
• The LTAMDC AoA is On-going
• Results due to OSD Study Advisory Group (SAG)
in Nov 2015
• Final Report delivered in Dec 2015
