Course Level Changes

Advanced Academic (AA)

Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP)

Advanced Placement AP (AP)

Other Things to Consider

Why take AA, Pre-AP & AP courses?

More Challenging

Stretch Academically

Receive extra grade points for GPA

AA, Pre-AP, and AP

Level I courses (open to any student):

Advanced Academic

PreAP

AP courses

Level I courses are awarded extra grade

points – more rigorous

Students who are identified through

CCISD testing may take GT courses (English I

& II Leadership PreAP/GT)

Level 1 GPA Courses

Taking too many AA, Pre-AP & AP

classes (can be overwhelming)

AA, Pre-AP/AP classes that don’t

correlate with student‘s strengths

Inability to balance AA, Pre-AP, AP

classes and extra-curricular activities

Higher expectations in high school AA,

Pre-AP/AP

“Pitfalls” of AA, Pre-AP & AP

Choose courses carefully!Schedule changes at the high school are for

data mistakes or course errors only.

Verification letters will be mailed home in April. Changes may be made up until May 6, 2016.

Planning for High School

Once the student’s course selections have been verified and the May 6, 2016 deadline has passed, changes will not be allowed.

Schedules will be created to match requests as much as possible.

Course selection cards are due back to the Intermediate Counselors by Monday, February 22nd!
