Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment

• State-funded Induction Program

• Co-sponsored by the California Department of Education (CDE) and the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)

• Designed to provide opportunities for newly-credentialed, beginning teachers to expand and deepen their teaching knowledge and skills

• Supports a smooth transition from teacher preparation into the complex responsibilities of teaching.

• Fulfills the requirements for the California Clear Multiple and Single Subjects Credentials

BTSA programs are locally designed and implemented in accordance with the Standards for Quality and Effectiveness for Professional Teacher Induction Programs and are accredited by the CTC to recommend candidates for the Clear Multiple or Single Subjects Credential in California.

• Employed as a PK – 12th grade teacher

• Valid preliminary teaching credential– Multiple Subjects– Single Subject– Education Specialist– Designated Subjects

State Funding

• First two years in a qualifying position at a public school

• Options if state funding not available:– Induction private pay– University clear
