    General advice

    Protect newly laid oors

All newly laid oors should be covered and protected rom

all other trades during the contract with a suitable non-stain-

    ing protective covering.

Use protective eet on chairs and tables to reduce scratching.

Castor wheels should be o sot material suitable or resilient

oor coverings (according to EN425 and EN12529)

    Use Entrance Systems

As much as 80% o dirt entering a building is brought in by

oot trafc. Correct use o a good quality entrance barrier mat

(or example Forbo Coral and Nuway) is recommended and

can signicantly reduce the volume o dirt reaching smooth

oor coverings; reducing maintenance costs and maximising

appearance retention. It is generally accepted that a minimumarea o 4 10 steps is required beore soil is removed.

    Cleaning

Regular cleaning is more benecial and cost

    eective than occasional heavy cleaning.

Use recommended cleaning products. High quality

cleaning products and equipment ensure efcient

maintenance and represent only a small proportion o

    maintenance costs.

Always ollow the manuacturers instructions or cleaning

    products.

Always ollow the Health and Saety guidance provided.

Remember that light and uni-colours may need to be

    cleaned more requently.

The improper use o high pH cleaners and strippers may

damage resilient ooring. Frequent treatment or inadequate

rinsing may cause cracking, shrinking, and/or discoloration.

Linoleum ooring should never be cleaned with high pH

chemicals because permanent damage may occur.

Abrasive powders or cleansers should not be used.

    FAQ

How oten should I clean my oor?

The optimum requency or cleaning and maintenance is

determined by the way the oor is used. When producing a

cleaning and maintenance schedule it is good practice to

consider the situation o the oor rst: e.g. is it near an

entrance to the building or on an upper oor? Will it collect

dry or moist soil? What level o trafc will it be subjected to?

    Can I polish my oor?

The advanced suraces applied on Forbo Linoleum do not

require the use o polish. However, i you do wish to polish

your oors this will not harm it or aect any product warran-

ties. I polish is to be applied do not attempt to remove the

    surace nish.

Should you choose to apply an additional coating the

perormance properties o the ooring can change.
