TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR A RESEARCHER WITHIN AN AREA OF ECOLOGICAL RESERVEDate: December 2010 Place: Belo Horizonte - BrasilThe Project Master of Architecture and Sustainability was to design a temporary housing for a researcherin an ecological reserve respecting the displacement. The housing should comply with basic spaces

[kitchen, dining room, bathroom, bedroom and workplace] and the design had to be passive. The property will belocated in the Parque das Mangabeiras, Belo Horizonte, Brazil. So, we opted for cross-ventilation, high ventilation and thermal insulation. In addition to the use of local materials, reducing the significant ventilation and thermal insulation. In addition to the use of local materials, reducing the significant

environmental impact. The house was designed for a tropical climate so it was to make the ventilation had a good move to cool spaces and also protect them from high solar incidence.

Cooperation Project in SenegalDate: June 2011 Place: Ziguinchor-Senegal

The final Master Project should optimize the urban prototypes for international cooperation projects, specifically in Ziguinchor - Senegal, as these prototypes do not take into account weather conditions and thus the active and passive bioclimatic strategies are inadequate. The location has a hot and humid tropical climate, where rainfall prevail for six months and the average temperature is 27 º C with a wind speed (10km / h). This

makes the site a candidate for the use of rainwater and solar energy.makes the site a candidate for the use of rainwater and solar energy.

We designed a unique plant with a simple constructive scheme using the most abundant material of the place: bamboo. As for passive bioclimatic design required both horizontal sunscreens (large eaves) and vertical (bamboo protection in facades with more solar incidence), natural cross ventilation to cool the space and

orient buildings so they can receive the prevailing wind.

For the active bioclimatic design we proposed rainwater harvesting, which with a pretreatment can be used for irrigation, as gray water and even drinking water. The solar energy for artificial lighting of buildings (at night, as the

design allows more natural light as possible during the day) and Biogas to generate gas for cooking.design allows more natural light as possible during the day) and Biogas to generate gas for cooking.

In conclusion, we designed a simple construction proposal for the locals (do not need skilled labor), respectful the environment by using bamboo, prototypes that use natural lighting and ventilation all day. And finally, a better use of

the natural resources such as water and sunlight for their own benefit.

The client was looking for a traditional but modern design at the same time, with warm colors and a bigger space .The traditional look was achieved through land colors and the modern lookwith the use of ice glass in cabinets and stainless steel hardware. Furthermore, the elimination of one wall connecting the kitchen to the dining room and giving amplitude to the space.

The client gave the firstfruits of a minimalist design in white, black colors. Also, the design had to include a place to eat since they wouldn’t have a dining table. Walls were removed, as the original kitchen was closed, which allowed visual amplitude and joining adjacent spaces likethe living and media room.

Escuela Bella Vista is an american school that are actually renovating all their spaceswith a modern and colorful look making the school a nice place to study.

The idea was to make an environment that encourages the reading and study through thefun for children and relaxation for youngs. This was done using light colors in walls,

more vibrant colors in certain areas of the floor and modern and more functional furniture. The lighting was a big concern since previously it was very dark. For this reason we suggested to remove the fake ceiling and place more lamps. Likewise, for the acousticsuggested to remove the fake ceiling and place more lamps. Likewise, for the acoustic

we proposed acoustic clouds, which also give the impression of being under a tree thereby bringing the outside to the inside along with green carpets that resemble grass, bringing the spaces called "inspiration points". We reused much of the existing furniture, which

were restored to be consistent to the new design. It was also proposed slate acrylic sheets to remove whiteboards, so the walls are like a big mural unique.
