Student Behaviors

• Be prompt Be ready to learn when class begins.

• Be prepared Have materials with you and know due dates.

• Be a polite and positive participant Speak in a normal tone of voice when

appropriate, and listen attentively.

• Be productive Turn in work on time, and always do your best.

• Be a problem solver Correct problems quickly and peacefully before

they escalate.

Be Prompt

• Don’t be late! If the door is closed and you don’t have a reasonable excuse – as in, you are standing around in the hallway – you will receive points off.

• When you come in, if there’s something on the board: get started!

• If there’s not something on the board: start reading!

• Either way, you should be quiet once class starts.

Be Prepared

• Bring your journals every day.

• Bring something to write with and something to read.

• Bring your journals every day.

Be A Polite And Positive Participant

• When class is active – especially when the teacher is speaking – you must be silent. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.

• Talking when another student has the floor is also grounds for disciplinary action – actions include: Behavior Card/Call Home Detention ISS Loss of Locker Break/Loss of Locker Removal From Class

Be Productive

• Turn in work on time. This should not be difficult as most work in this class is done during classtime and work that is not usually involves ample time to complete (such as one month for the Independent Reading Projects).

• Failure to turn in work on time will result in -10 points per day until the work is turned in.

• Failure to turn in work on a consistent basis or at all will result in your continuing enrollment at Campbell Middle School in the 2014-2015 school year.

Be A Problem Solver

• If the class cannot handle not speaking, be an excellent student by encouraging your fellow students to quiet down.

• If a student talks to you when it’s not appropriate, don’t talk back – then you won’t be the one getting in trouble!

• Have agency: If you do something wrong, own it! Lying will only result in further trouble.

Show Respect

• Value yourself. Be honest and ethical, and practice strong moral values.

• Treat all members of the school community and all visitors with politeness and respect.

• Honor the ideas and opinions of others.

• Offer to help.

• Be responsible with property and belongings.

Responsibility for Coursework• Bring notebook, textbook, planner, and

appropriate writing tools to class.

• Know due dates, and submit all coursework on time.

• All assignments are posted on the bulletin board and on the class Web site.

Promote Lifelong Learning

You can develop lifelong learning traits: By showing curiosity about human nature and

how the world works. By seeking and valuing diversity. By persisting in seeking out new solutions. By using your unique talents and intelligence to

promote positive change. By learning and applying technology tools to

solve problems.

Policies

• Food and beverages are not allowed in the classroom.

• Please be in your seat when the bell rings, as class begins at that time.

• Absences Ask team members or a classmate first for

assignments. Each absence has a one-day grace period. Aside from journal entries, you are responsible

for any work done on days you are gone: ask for make-up work!
