Security & Shelter

The teacher has also provided a bin of comfort stuffed animals for the children to utilize during their reading time or when they have finished their work.

The teacher also writes a morning note for the students to make sure they know what the day will include and to warm them up to new ideas or, in this case, people.

Social Contact

The class room has a reading area with portable chairs to give the children the option of sitting as a group or by themselves to read.

The students sit at desks of four for collaborative work and socializing.

The teacher also has a kidney table in the back for more focused teacher-led group work.

Symbolic Identification

There wasn’t any student work posted or art hanging; however, I did notice individual cubbies for the students to place their belongings.

I also noticed a wall of

birthdays posted.

The classroom uses space very efficiently. There are labeled bins placed throughout the classroom for various items.

The students know where their items, such as book bags and coats, belong, as well as where there homework and morning work gets placed.

The bookshelves have bins of leveled books for students to read when they complete work.

Also on top of each desk are personal pencil bins, as well as a table pencil bin.

Task Instrumentality

The classroom has a nice color theme running throughout the class. There are varying textures of chairs. The teacher has also decorated with hanging lanterns.

Pleasure

There is a library full of different leveled books for children to access.

The teacher also lists out the day’s learning targets.
