The Christian hope

The Christian hope is poised between past and future.

The journey of faith is sustained by memory on the one hand, and anticipation on the other.

Christians can look back to the once-for-all deliverance from sin that Christ achieved through his cross and resurrection, and also look forward to fi nally being with Christ in heaven – when suffering, pain, sin and death are things of the past. The old order will fi nally have been abolished.

In the meantime, we who are Christians must live out our lives on earth – but we

can do so in hope, trusting in both what God has done, and what he will do. The Christian hope rests securely on the total reliability of God, and his complete faithful-ness to his promises.

The resurrection hope of believers is of importance because it proclaims the unique divinity of Christ. This hope is also of importance to the future of believers because those who believe in Christ will share in his resurrection. The theme of hope is central importance in human history. Despair drives people and societies into all kinds of disasters. A faith, which offers the world no hope, is irrelevant; a faith which offers

the world a false hope is fraudulent. One of the greatest wonders of the gospel is that it offers the world a real hope, grounded in history, and guaranteed by the presence and power of the risen Lord Jesus.

Jesus chose to suffer and die, so that those who put their trust in him might suffer and die in hope. Hope is one of the characteris-tics of human life today. With faith and love it will also be a characteristic of human life on a higher plane in heaven.

Harp in my heart

The rhythms of our heart are inspired by the rawness of the

Father’s love to us.Who can understand God’s reckless

mercy or the depth of His love made manifest in His son Jesus Christ; that he would make His habitation in the hearts of His imperfect creation through the precious Holy Spirit.

Our overwhelmed hearts have to question, what kind of love is this? It’s a love that is pure, unconditional and freely given. John 3:16. Aotearoa cries out for the ointment of love to heal the pain. God alone knows your pain and all you have been going through. There is a harp in every heart and all of us can play it. A song is in every broken soul to be sung just waiting to be released. Even though life may seem so upside down and many are weeping, as you call out to the Father, He will just keep on coming to you. He keeps on loving even when we let Him down.

A harp is a beautiful musical instrument that arrests the hearts of man when a melody is played. The heavenly Father’s heart pours out a beautiful love song to the world. It is a melody of forgiveness, acceptance and healing. As you listen for the rains of grace and mercy, let them wash over your heart and release the harp and song that has been silenced, the

dream that has died. You still have many more songs to dream and melodies to write. Don’t stop singing.

There is still one more person for you to tell, never give up, just keep on dreaming. God so knows your pain. Out of that pain can come a sound that can only come forth when heaven comes down and meets you on earth. The harp in your heart crafted and healed by the master craftsman will begin to permeate a beautiful love song. A song of the Father’s unconditional love and healing that can change your life and that of our nation forever.
