Both of these presidents have had their share of fundraising troubles. The senior officers were planning a raffle fundraiser that involved students buying a ticket for a chance to win a day with a “senior sweetie.” Osorno said “We were super excited and started to plan it before finding out that selling raffle tickets to anyone under 18 is actually illegal. That was very disappointing because we were very excited for it and had high hopes that it would go well.” The junior class had trouble with getting people involved. “I don’t think many people realize that all of the activities and fundraisers class office does actually benefit them. All of the money that we raise will lower the costs for the senior activities. That’s why prom tickets can be so expensive,” Bush said. Why then have they stuck with class office for so long? Bush said, “I chose to run for class office because I love being involved, and one of the easiest ways to do that is to be in class office.” Osorno agreed and said, “the best part is definitely knowing that I’m able to plan things that will get other people involved and excited for events.
