Role of the HS Counselor
• Address social / emotional needs
• Assist with college & post-high school planning
• Assist students in planning appropriate course schedules and determine how to best achieve educational goals
The counselor is the one person who sees the entire picture of a student’s 4-year high school career and who can bring all that information
together.
Earning Credits• One school year = 2 semesters• Each semester students take 6 classes• Each class = 0.5 credit• 6 classes x 0.5 credit = 3.0 credits per
semester
