Four years ago we all stepped in to the halls of Maritime High School with no knowledge about what
would happen to us in our entire journey in our high school life. Most of us would agree that this
journey we spent in high school was definitely one of the best and memorable days of our life. It was in
high school that we met the best of best of friends, be competitive just to be on the top students in our
class, hoped for a place in varsity team, strived for the student council, and trying to take part in school
programs, activities and contests. It is also in high school when we first experience and felt to love – as
what Sir Soriano said, “ Crush, Crush lang anay”. The stages when we learn how to stumble down with
failures but eventually stood up and fight. The chapter where we learnt about the life and the lessons
taught to us.
Tonight the class 2009 has gathered al the exciting memories, achievements and accomplishments.
Thoughts that are joyous and worth to be remember. Let us all reminisce each high school happenings.
I. Come Aboard!! - Freshmen Year
Anxiety companied us in the opening of classes as we wandered to the grounds of Maritime High School,
thinking who will be our adviser or classmates. As the bell rang, all of us hurriedly went to our respective
classrooms where our entire story began. We sat on the most comfortable places available, looking
around and seeing strange and familiar faces as we patiently waited for our advisers to come. This the
time when all of us are too silent, way too different from our noisy murmurs, chitchatting and laughters.
As our teacher approaches and get inside our classroom, too many thoughts are coming into our minds.
Is our teacher will be strict or kind? Will he or she teaching an English, Math, or Science subject? But as
soon as he introduces his self we already had the knowledge of what kind of person our teacher will be.
And speaking of introducing ones self, yes, all of us experienced that. But surely one thing, or two things
rather which was new and catches our attention. The “Midship Man, blah blah, asking permission to
Come aboard!!” And “Prepare for ‘Tion Deck”. And during the Mapeh subject, after Ma’am Nolasco
taught us the JBLFMU hymn, the next day all of in the room are humming and singing it. “We look back
to humble beginning. . . .
Beginning. New beginnings, in making friends, learning more lessons, and beginning to improve and
know more about ourselves. Just like Joben Tabujara who won 1st
place in Maritime English during the
Intramurals despite of being a freshman and new to the Maritime studies. And Venus Pemicon Panique,
who is awared as Ms. Photogenic in the Search for Mr. and Ms. Highschool. Truly astounding that even
though we are just like a baby in this institution, we prove that we can compete among other students
who are ahead of us.
Every freshman continued to have a strong bond of relationships with their new classmates andschoolmates, overcoming the sadness they felt as they went separated among their elementary friends.
The year has ended with great smile in our face as we already assured that, we are surely coming
aboard!!!

II. Head Gears On!!! – Sophomore Year
Another year to be added in our high school memories. We are not the babies anymore in MHS.
Cheers!!
Sophomore. The time of schooling where learning requires maturity. The playful freshmen are now
dreamers. We dream for our future, family and for ourselves. As another year is added, some persons
are also added to the group. Rhanlee Juadian, a charming orator who won 3rd
place in English Oration
Contest during High School day and Rachelle Claryce Querimit, a mathematician and won 2nd
place in
English Declamation also in High School day. Joben Tabujara, again made it top in Maritime English,
having a 3rd
place in Intramurals 2010. The graceful dance movements of those who participated in
Modern Dance and Field Demonstration both got the 3rd
place during the High School Day Celebration.
And who could not forget the time when we had our first Navigational Trip!
A one day escapade in the City of Smiles – Bacolod- Visiting some places like the JBLFMU Bacolod and
the Mambukal Resort located near the Mt. Kanlaon. The trip was not only meant to be recreational but
educational for we are set to be familiar with the ship and also a good start to become independent.
Sophomore year is really a developing stage in our lives. It is the time when we already had the plan and
idea on what career are we taking up in our college life. Yes, the phase when we realized that we are
growing up.
And growing up is not that easy as growing requires valor and bravery as one meets challenges and
hindrance along the way. It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.
III. Hand Salute!! – Junior Year
All the downhill comes at this year. Its is circumstantial that this part of high school life, a myriad of
responsibilities is at par facing the junior students for here is where they are trained and honed in
preparation for the duties that await them.
More experienced and exposure not only in the four walls of our classroom but also in the decks of a
ship as we went to the queen city of the south – Cebu City – for another navigational trip. This time its
more fun as we visited some of the famous tourist attractions in Cebu, like the Taoist temple, Magellanscross, Lapu-lapu shrine and so many more.
Juniors also make their way in academics, literary, and cultural. Rachelle Claryce Querimit, Roy Kenny
Soribas, and Joben Tabujara won the Math Quiz bee gathering the 1st
, 2nd
, and 3rd
places respectively.
Alexis Martin Arang, 2nd
place and Rigil Kent Pajoganoy, 3rd
Place in General Information Quiz. Rolando
Paro Jr. 2nd
place and Camille Galanto, 3rd
place for Spelling Bee.

For the Literary, Rachelle Claryce Querimit made it 1st
in High School Day in English Declamation, while
Camille Galanto got 3rd
place in Filipino declamation. The Modern Dancer succeeds in getting the 1st
place both in High School Day and Intramurals. And lets give recognition for those juniors who
participated in Cheer dance competition that got the championship during the Intramurals.
And don forget the Folk Dance, which was participated by Klein Dalyn Latosa, Vheil Kimri Joven, RhanleeJaudian and Herson Nolla. Proclaimed as champion during the Foundation Week Celebration. And was
also featured to dance in Paraw Regatta Celebration here on Iloilo City.
Nevertheless, the feeling of excitement aroused upon each junior when we first experience the Junior-
Senior Promenade. The most awaited moment is filled with programs, tasty food, great music,
glamorous gowns, and classy formal attires. Darren Christian Amaguin and Joanne Marie Bañares were
crowned as Prom Prince and Princess. Its is also the time when the seniors turn-over the responsibilities
to the juniors. The night ended with smiles on each of the students.
We have gone so many improvements when it comes to learning, experience and character. But we
knew there is still more challenges to come in our way.
Continuity of vision and specified goals are necessary requirements for the upcoming seniors, significant
aspects in striking the aim. Obstacles may come at every chance but never give up on our hopes and
goals for this will serve as our inspiration to become more passionate and determined in every worked
we do.
IV. Head Gears Off!! – Senior Year
Senior Year: The last lap. Last Aquaintance Party, last navigational trip, last Christmas party, lastpromenade, and most of all, last year in Maritime High School. The once little youngsters have now
grown and become young adult. We will be embark by great duties and responsibilities. Our future
counts on how we manifest ourselves in what path are we choose to take. But before everything else,
let’s just first recall the memories and achievement we gathered in just a small amount of time.
The Seniors dominate the Academic Contest during the High School Day. Joben Tabujara, Rachelle
Claryce Querimit and Roy Kenny Soribas for Math Quiz. Rolando Paro Jr.( who also made it to
Intramurals), Camille Galanto and Rhanlee Jaudian for Spelling Quiz. Alexis Martin Arang and Rigil Kent
Pajoganoy for General Information. And John Louie Baguyo for Maritime Trivia.
Tabujara, Soribas, Querimit, and Arang made it until the Foundation Day.
The Rowing and Paddling team of High School also did a very great job.
The paddling consist of Jemmuel John Orbino, Rheniel Jan Divinagracia, Ian Chris Estember, Hector
Legaspi ,Rupert Santos, Paul Irvin Vargas and Ronel Ceballos, overpowered the college students during
the intramurals and made it to Foundation, while the rowing team, Janrey Genovatin, Jules Reign

Macaroncio, Joben Tabujara, Karlo tendencia and Jepson marc Villaruel, despite of their controversial
victory during the intramurals, the qualified in Foundation and finished 2nd
place in the race.
Van Hussein Saiton, Rupert Santos and Rheniel Jan Divinagracia are some of the members of men’s
volleyball team who toiled to gain the 2nd
place, the chess team who won 3rd
place, and Adrianne Jose
Martin Segovia became the Board 2 Champion all happened during the PRISSAA competition.
And don’t forget the beauty of Venus Pemicon Panique. From being the Ms. Photogenic during the first
year, now being crowned as Ms. High School 2012. She also became the 1st
runner up during Intramurals
and 2nd
runner up during the Foundation.
September 2012, the rotary club of Iloilo Celebrates its annual Boy’s & Girl’s week. Two students act as
public officials in an entire week of celebration. Joben Tabujara became the City Social Welfare
Development Officer and Rachelle Claryce Querimit seated as City Councilor, who had passed his own
resolution during his term.
And also, Maritime High School makes its international scene when it was featured at SeafarersAsia.Revealing the culture and its excellence not just in the Philippines but in Asia.
Who could ever imagine that, these are the accomplishments of the kids who once wandered in the
MHS ground with worry in their heads of what will happen to them on their high school life? Time really
passed so quickly that we never realized that we surpassed the four years of existence here in high
school. So many downs and so many ups. But let’s always remember that all of these things made us to
know who we really are, and what we really want in life. To all seniors, as we set adrift and leave the
shore of the Maritime High School, and as we venture to another life, we can presume that we have left
a legacy; a trail the others may follow and an inspiration to those who are nest in line.
