Students in Years 1 to 6 are participating in daily peer reading. Year 1/2 and Year 2/3 are peer reading
class partners and Year 4/5 and Year 5/6 are peer reading partners.
Peer reading is a research-based fluency strategy used with readers to improve fluency. In this strategy,
students read aloud to each other. Peer reading can be used with any book, taking turns reading by
sentence, paragraph, page or chapter. Peer reading helps students work together and it encourages
co-operation and supports peer-assisted learning. Partners read for 7 minutes each before changing roles.
At the end of a peer reading session, pairs are encouraged to ask each other about what was read. "What
was your page about? What was your favorite part?"

CLASS DOJO
All Infants and Primary classes are utilising a classroom management program called ‘Class Dojo’. Class Dojo
encourages students in class to participate positively. Class Dojo gives positive feedback for different skills,
such as persistence and teamwork. Students receive Dojo points for being on task, displaying positive learning
habits and for classroom effort. Students are rewarded when a certain amount of Dojo points are accumulated,
for example if a students receives 20 Dojo points they will be given a class prize from the prize box. Please
discuss this with your child/children and ask what they have been receiving their Dojo points for.
PEER READING
Our executive staff recently attended a professional development session in Wagga called ‘Mind Matters’, which
focussed on the emotional wellbeing of young people. One of the approaches provided involved a survey program
which provided students, parents and staff with a voice to respond to a variety of questions relating to the
school environment and student performance.
Our Secondary students completed the survey and the organisation operating ‘Mind Matters returned the
results, which are extremely positive. Some examples are displayed below, with our results featuring well above
the state average in many areas.

Dear Parents/Carers
First Term Wrap Up
Firstly, I would like to thank all the
parents and carers who have
actively supported our school this
term. It has been a busy one, with
the running of all three sports
carnivals; Swimming, Athletics and
Cross-Country; P&C Movie Night
Fundraiser; Questacon visit;
Debating Workshop; Meet the
Teachers afternoon BBQ; Clean up
Australia Day; Easter Hat Parade;
SRC elections and induction, as well
as our ANZAC Day Assembly. So if
you are feeling exhausted, so are
we.
Students have embraced their
learning, particularly with the
additional Teaching and Learning
Strategies that have been learnt by
staff during the term. The
professional development of our
teachers is paramount to quality
education, high expectations and
strategies that meet the needs of
the students and the community.
Annual School Report
At the end of the term, the 2015
Annual School Report is due to be
uploaded to our website. The format
is very different this year, as it
needs to reflect the advancements
we have made in progressing
towards our strategic directions.
This report will also be presented to
the P&C at the Week 3 meeting next
term.
Cross Country Thank You
Our Cross Country went off very
smoothly on Monday due to the
great organisational skills of Mr
Jayden Kotzur and Mr Gavin
Price-Jones. We were blessed with
beautiful weather and both staff
and students had a wonderful day; I
am sure there was some very early
nights for some… Thank you to our
Year 10 students for cooking the
BBQ as well as Seth van Asperen
(Year 8), Emma Kay and Maddy
Reynolds for also helping with the
BBQ.

MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM-COOKING Students have been cooking with such
enthusiasm every second week this term. They
have had the chance to prepare the food
(measuring, mixing, sifting and chopping) as
well as cleaning up after themselves, which is
an important household chore! They have
cooked a variety of dishes, including scones,
pancakes, burritos, beef stir fry and
carbonara. All of these tasks have been
implemented so that they can hopefully go
home and show off their skills to their family
members. We have had a terrific time cooking
and of course eating these marvellous dishes!

CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS
The school cross country was held on Monday at The Rock Golf
Course. We were lucky to have such a fantastic day for competing.
The races were held over distances of 2km for the 8/9 year olds
and up to 6km for the 16 year old boys. It was wonderful to see all
the parent and grandparent support there for our students. It
went really smoothly and congratulations to all those who
participated and a special mention to those who won their age
