MSWE CLARINET AUDITION EXCERPTS FALL 2020 All clarinet majors must audition on clarinet. If a student owns an A clarinet, they should perform excerpts marked “for A clarinet” on said instrument. Students that do not own an A clarinet should perform all excerpts on Bb clarinet (as printed). Use of an A clarinet will not factor into ensemble and/or chair placement. Clarinet majors may also audition on bass clarinet in addition to soprano clarinet. Any clarinet major may be asked to play bass clarinet for one or more concert cycles, regardless of whether or not they audition on bass clarinet. Clarinet majors must prepare all excerpts (nine total). Music majors with clarinet as a secondary instrument, music minors, and non-majors only need to prepare excerpts 1–3 and 9. Excerpts 1–2: Ingolf Dahl, Concerto for Saxophone Excerpt 1: iii. JL, Allegro brioso, 2/4 time, quarter note = 120 n.b. skip all multimeasure rests longer than three (3) measures
