What this means
Learning from schools in Sweden and Finland we will create a new curriculum including more opportunities for multi-disciplinary vocational learning.
We will create experiential learning; through an expanded natural thinkers curriculum in EYFS and Key Stage 1, including growing vegetables and cooking food that has been grown.
We will expand opportunities for pupils to use emerging and existing technologies across all curriculum areas, ensuring teachers use emerging and existing technologies throughout the new curriculum.
We will ensure all pupils can begin to learn a foreign language in early years and begin to become fluent in at least one language by the end of Key Stage Two (with the opportunity to learn another language spoken by one of our local communities).
We will ensure that Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) is central to our new curriculum.
We will create a Clapham Manor Children's Charter confirming what opportunities all our pupils should have for formal and informal learning. The charter will detail crucial partnership principles between Parent, Pupil and Teacher.
Deliverables
1. Redevelopment of buildings on the Grafton Square site and many rooms in the main school building
2. Development of “The Spinney” as a model of good practice in early years and a self-sustaining community resource
3. Curriculum development ensuring all children experience social education learning as part of a 24 hour camping trip and a week outward bound course, and have the choice of exciting sports and arts in and outside curriculum time
4. Develop resources to support children with additional needs including our SALT provision, Learning Mentors, Learning Support Assistants and Dramatherapy
1. Creation of a new food technology classroom
2. Renovation of infant and junior playgrounds with a focus on ‘Natural Thinkers’ in Key Stage One
3. Implementation of food technology curriculum in Key Stage Two
1. Creation of a technology focused curriculum across all subject areas
1. Employing a team of specialist Modern Foreign Language Teachers
2. Forging connections with schools and communities across the world
1. Implement CPD programme to support teachers to deliver PSHE effectively
2. Raise the profile of PSHC and consider it in all parts of our learning, creating a consistent whole school approach from all staff and constant references to it in PDM’s, morning meetings etc.
1. Parental outreach and engagement to involve all parents in the development and promotion of the charter
2. Extend student leadership beyond the school council creating more opportunities for pupils to support each other with their learning
