Hello, I am Claire Poole one of your Labour Shepshed Town Councillors since our last news letter in the summer I have been working hard in Shepshed standing up for you. One of my main tasks since our last newsletter has been working on the Shep- shed community planning Steering Group of which I am Vice Chairperson, the reason for community planning is to improve the lives of residents,. Together Jane Lennie and I will be working hard to use the results from the questionnaires to consider priorities at council. I am also concerned about the public toilet provisions in Shepshed and you may have read in the local press that Charnwood Borough Council were planning on closing them. Therefore I have become a member of the Town Council toilet committee and we have been liaising with Charnwood Borough Council to try and come up with a solution to keep them open and improve the condition and cleanliness of them. I have also been working hard for local charities I would like to thank Shepshed Town Council, Shep- shed Building Society and Shepshed Rotary Club for their generous donations towards the fundraising for Shepshed St. Johns Ambulance Badgers. The money raised enabled the Badgers to go to London to the St. Johns Ambulance museum to complete the family badge. it has also increased the awareness of the Shepshed St. Johns Badgers which has in turn has increased the number of Badgers attending. The Shepshed Dolphin Swimming Group have asked me if I will take part in the London Marathon to help raise funds for this great Shepshed charity, I have accepted this challenge, so on the 17th of April I will be running through the streets of London raising money for this important Shepshed charity. I am of course looking for sponsors! So if you wish to sponsor or like to know more information about this then please get in touch on the number below . You may see me ‘pound’ the roads of Shepshed as I continue my training for the marathon. Do stop me if you would like to discuss anything or have a chat. Your Local Labour Councillors Listening To Local Residents Views: Before Christmas 2010 we where at Shepshed CO-OP to hold an outdoor open surgery where we met with many local residents and listened to your views and problems. We got some valuable feedback from the people we met and have dealt with the issues that where raised. Due to the success of the last surgery we will be holding further surgery's at Shepshed CO-OP, where again we will be eager to meet you and hear your views and help with your problems. We are also looking at having an out door open surgery at the new Tesco so that we can meet local residents from that side of town in the near future. We’ll keep you posted on dates. We also have many ways for you to get in touch in the meantime please see the side panel opposite. We would also like to thank Shepshed fire fighters for all the hard work raising money for local Shepshed charities We where glad to be able to help them for a short while at the CO-OP open air surgery.
