Dear Sir or Madam:

After further research into the job and company, I decided to pursue this position. To me, this position represents a pristine opportunity for me to learn and garner the skills necessary for me to become a more successful working professional. Should you choose to hire me, there should be full disclosure. I will never be a ‘perfect’ employee. I don’t believe perfection exists. I think that there is always room for improvement, regardless of how much success you experience. Vince Lombardi said it best, “perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.” So I may never be a ‘perfect’ employee for you, but I will attempt to better myself each and every day. I will strive for progress, productivity, and success, regardless of any sacrifices and hardships I might face. And in the end, I believe that I will catch excellence for both your company and myself.

I am a hardworking individual who revels in taking on challenges. I thrive on logistical and analytical work. I especially enjoy technical analysis, market research, and forecasting. As a finance major, I have has the opportunity to engage in this type of work through term projects. Recently, I completed a project for a class where I had to identify, analyze, and attempt to solve an operations problem at a local Starbucks. After reviewing the income statements and balance sheets, I was able to recognize that the operations problem for this business centered on inventory management. I provided the manager with my analysis and possible solutions. She actually decided to implement one of the solutions I suggested. I gained even more allocation-related experience when I was asked to serve as team leader on a case study for the Rutgers University Supply Chain Association. The case study required the team to research and analyze the complete supply chain of doctor’s office. I gained significant experience in both research and leadership. I learned to how to network with professional contacts, utilize the connections of my team members, and manage multiple persons. I believe that this case study coupled with my numerous term projects has provided me with necessary skills and experience required of this position.

Although I lack the professional experience of a seasoned working professional, I do have over six years experience in inventory management, production planning, and sales from working for Crown Trophy, the family business. I became especially proficient in the procurement and distribution side of the business. I utilize forecasting, market research, and ratio analysis to ensure that the business continues to maximize its growth and profit. In 2015, I was credited with acquiring 11 new accounts. Some of which generate over $10,000 in annual revenue. I was also given a management role from May to September. I was responsible for all store operations and the supervisory of three to five employees.

Given the opportunity, I know that I would succeed in this position. I have both the professional and educational experience necessary to be proficient in this position. I would be happy to further discuss my qualifications in an interview at your convenience. I can be reached at 908-421-5843 or [email protected]. I look forward to speaking with you.

Best Regards,

Caitlin Kennedy
