Another beauty from the fantastic estate of Tenuta Montanello. This 100% Nebbiolo classic comes from the Langhe area of Piemonte where the famed Barolo and Barbaresco come from. This medium-full bodied dry red has no oak aging to it. The color is a beautiful dark cherry. Very pretty nose of cherry and a dash of rose petal. On the palate the wine is fresh and lively with a very elegant finish. All the trademarks of great Nebbiolo. Don’t let the price fool you. This is a very serious wine here. I had a bottle opened for three days and it tasted wonderful. Matches well with pasta of course, but equally great with all roasted meats as well. TENUTA MONTANELLO LANGHE NEBBIOLO 8.99 VALLE TRITANA VERDICCHIO DI MATELICA Italy. Ahh Verdicchio. It was such a popular wine back in the 70’s & 80’s. It lost popularity in the 90’s and early 2000’s but seems to be coming back. Honestly I am glad to see it. It’s not a fancy wine. No. Just an everyday wine to have with simple meals. Dry, clean fresh vibrant juice. Medium bodied and no new oak to this wine. Valle Tritana is a very good example of what Verdicchio is all about. 10.99 WYATT CABERNET SAUVIGNON California. By far, one of the best bangs for your buck California Cabs that you can buy. In my opinion, this wine over- delivers. Ripe, round, juicy, smooth, balanced and seductive. That’s right, seductive. It will seduce you out of your money and leave you drooling on the floor for another bottle. You have been warned. 14.99 TERRAZAS RESERVA MALBEC Argentina. If you like the regular Terrazas Malbec you are going to love this. The difference between the two is that the Reserva has more of everything. Bigger body. Richer fruit. More oak aging. Longer finish. Substantial, yes, but equally balanced. Match it up with full flavored dishes. Beef, pork, etc. MAESTRO DEL POMIDORO Italy. Now here is just a fun everyday wine that really delivers. Even the label is fun (you have to see it). This easy to consume medium-bodied dry red is made from the classic Sangiovese grape (100%). Great with pizza, pasta and burgers. But as the Maestro says, “Groovy with grilled sausage!” 7.99 8.99 DOMAINE DES BANQUETTES COTES DU RHONE BLANC France. So often when we hear the name Cotes Du Rhone we think of the great red wines. But did you know they make great white wines from here as well? Maybe not so popular over here in the states but over in France it is extremely popular due to its great food pairing, quality and dollar value. This full- bodied dry white sees no new oak. It’s all about the fruit and mouthfeel here. A wine that should be served chilled but not ice cold. Too cold and you lose the beautiful mouthfeel and flavors. A blend of Grenache Blanc, Rousanne and Clairette Blanc. FRITZ DE KATZ RIESLING Germany. Bargain hunters rejoice! Take a look at this incredibly priced Riesling from the Mosel region of Germany. It has everything you can ask for in this style of wine. Lots of great Riesling fruit, a touch of sweetness and a little bit of zippy acidity to keep it lively and balanced. This is a real easy sipper. Enjoy it by itself or with salads, seafood or spicy foods. Meow! 7.99 11.99 MOCALI I PIAGGIONI ROSSO TOSCANO Italy. This is a nice, little, unknown, smart buy that shouldn’t be overlooked. Mocali is known for making some incredible Brunello Di Montalcinos. Though this is not Brunello, this 100% Sangiovese from Montalcino kind of gets you there for a fraction of the price. It is a medium to full- bodied dry red. Well put together, so to speak, between the fruit, acidity and tannins. A Tuscan Red of balance. Enjoy with roasted meats and Rocky Mountain oysters. 7.99 DANTE DI FIORENZA CHIANTI Italy. What a breath of fresh air Dante Di Fiorenza Chianti is. What I mean by this is that it is just a real solid dollar value Chianti. A very simple straight forward, drink-me-now kind of Chianti. It doesn’t make you think too hard about it. It’s not supposed to. It’s just an everyday wine for those everyday dishes like pizza, pasta and burgers. Medium-bodied and dry with good fruit and an enjoyable finish. You can’t really ask for more than that on something so modestly priced. 10.99 CHATEAU MONTFORT VOUVRAY France. This is a very easy drinking, off-dry white that matches up great with chicken, fish and spicy food. The grape variety in the wine is Chenin Blanc. You’ll find a lot of fruit, but also acidity to keep it balanced and refreshing. Hooray for Vouvray. 7.99 TOMAIOLO PINOT GRIGIO Italy. It seems like everyday there is a new Pinot Grigio on the market. It is definitely one of the hottest categories right now in the wine industry. The problem is that there are a lot of weak unflattering ones out there. Tomaiolo is not one of those. This was a big surprise when I tasted it. It has body, richness and lots of flavor that is found in more expensive Pinots. Stock up on this great dollar value dry wine. 5.99 Italy. Here is that down-to-earth value driven everyday red that you have been looking for. This full-bodied dry red is the perfect pasta, pizza, burger - you name it wine. It’s a mellow, soft, fruit-driven red made from the Montepulciano grape in Abruzzo. Great quality dry red at an unbeatable price! LA FIERA MONTEPULCIANO D’ABRUZZO DOMAINE DES BANQUETTES RASTEAU France. For those of us who like full throttle reds, this Rasteau fits the bill. Rasteau is a Cru Village in the Cotes du Rhone area of the Southern Rhone Valley. Sometimes they are referred to as Baby Chateauneuf du Pape. Not a bad reference to have, I would say. This deep, dark, dense, rambunctious little fellow is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Carignan. Big wines like big food but I have it with roasted chicken and hamburgers and it goes nicely with those as well. 10.99 6.99 South Africa. It’s the everyday great dollar value Chardonnay you’ve been looking for. More citrus flavors are found here than tropical fruit flavors. Has a kiss of vanilla from a little oak aging and a smooth rich finish. Spend a little. Get a lot! CAPE INDABA CHARDONNAY PELLEGRINO GIBELÉ ZIBIBBO Italy. What is this wine you may ask? Honestly a very good question. Zibibbo is the Sicilian name for the Muscat grape. I know, not something on your radar but certainly a fun wine to try. This medium bodied modestly dry white is loaded with beautiful fruit. Wonderful aromatics in the nose and just real fresh and smooth on the palate. It’s a wine that is so easy to drink, you can have it by itself but matches wonderfully with all seafood and white meat dishes. 12.99
