Denell Falk

Founder & President Even after 54 trips to Africa, safaris are still Denell’s ultimate recharge. On the other hand, she revels in Asia’s energetic buzz, enjoying great food, culture, history, art & incredible shopping!

Kathy Oakes

General ManagerPersonal, authentic experiences are the key to Kathy’s travels. Joy comes from meeting locals and appreciating nature-vivid African sunsets, lush vineyards in Argentina or Spain, or cruising French Polynesian waters.

Andrew De Angelis

Growing up in Italy, Andrew was consistently surrounded by art, history and ancient architecture. He still has a great interest in cultural experiences and loves to incorporate his inspirations when creating ultimate travel experiences.

Julie Bates

An energetic walk followed by a nice wine and great food is the ideal travel day for Julie. In the office, she works hard to create trips for you that she would love to do herself.

Katie Scott

Katie learned the intricacies of travel in South Africa when she visited a small island village, meeting children with nothing yet wanting for nothing. This is where she learned cultural sensitivity and gained a love for life. She calls on this experience as she moves through each step of your next adventure.

Teresa Dahl

Teresa has 26 years experience in conventional travel planning, specializing in cruises worldwide. Teresa’s skillset enables her to execute the finest details with great precision, ensuring your smooth sailings.

Kylan Falk

Whether ascending Kilimanjaro, hiking sand dunes in Namibia or having a brush with wildlife on safaris or oceanic encounters, an adventure is just around the corner. Trying new things and connecting with locals is part of the excitement.

Ajay Karah

The journey is part of the adventure for Ajay. Riverboats, luxury yachts and 4x4 safari vehicles just add to the experience. He enjoys the romance of being at sea as much as the joy of exploring ports and finding those hidden gems in each new location.

Karen Schulz

Karen’s travels have taken her from the depth of oceans to the top of mountains. She’s biked, hiked, and sailed over new landscapes, and explored history, architecture, exotic foods and cultures. She likes to discover inspirational places and help you do the same.

After splitting into 4 smaller groups according to low, medium or high hiking preferences, my group joined Francois, the oldest guide and a staff member of the late Diane Fossey. He has become legendary and is always the preferred individual to take various heads of state and other officials into the forest. We drove for a short period over rough roads, climbing high to the rock wall that delineates the park boundary. We began walking and Francois took his time, an indication to me that the gorillas were not that far up the mountain. He showed us several of the 200 plants that the gorillas eat. He imitated the body language and facial expressions of his beloved gorillas, and his “jigi jigi” demonstrations had us all in stitches! We were headed in to see the

Kwitonda Group, a large troop of 24 gorillas. We moved quietly though the forest, climbing up through bamboo, ferns and trees. We came across many trees that had been pushed down by forest elephants, the job made easy by the soft, wet earth. Buffalo dung was common too. Above us, there was a constant chatter of sunbirds, and the bright yellow and red flowers in the trees were obviously full of nectar. Within 45 minutes of entering the forest, we met the trackers, our indication that the gorillas were a few minutes away. From this point onward, it became one show after the other of gorilla behaviour and interaction. Francois was in top form too, placing us perfectly time after time into the best positions for optimal viewing. At one point we emerged from the bush, passing several individual gorillas on the way, to an

open area where a tree had recently fallen. It was festooned with 5 or 6 gorillas, including the big silverback at the far end. All the gorillas were carefully peeling off and eating the leaves of small bromeliads that covered virtually every square inch of the tree! These were obviously delicious, and most of these would have been impossible to harvest by heavy gorillas when the tree was still standing. They soon clambered off the tree, and we followed them to yet another scene. The main silverback was near a large black back male, and within moments Francois predicted that the silverback would put on a bit of a show. Sure enough, he raced towards the other gorilla, vocalizing loudly and running through us like a black hairy freight train! That was our signal to depart, as our time was up.
