In 1861, The American Civil War broke out and our country entered a war

amongst brothers. Technology at the time was emerging and news from

the battle lines and from the home front had only one

way to travel…..

Project:• 3 people will work together to create an

historical based newspaper• Topic: Everything Civil War!• Work should be divided equally• You will be given class time to research,

create and construct your newspaper.• The majority of the elements will be

produced on the computer using Word, PPT and other online forums.

Grade• Grade will based on content and style• Individual grade (what YOU create) +

Project grade (final product) + peer evaluation grade (your group gets to give you a grade)

• 150 points Project, 200 points for individual contributions, 50 possible points from group

Elements Required:• Each element is worth 5

points/project grade• Images = 10 points• Style, appearance and effectiveness

of newspaper is 20 points• Creativity and construction = 20

points

Title• Should reflect the region your

newspaper is produced (North or South)

• Include other details for creativity points (ex: cost, edition, index etc…)

• EX: The Rebel Review = South

Slavery• An article about slavery, slave life,

the Underground Railroad and/or slave revolts
