    Where could it lead to?

    UNIVERSITYCOLLEGE GET A JOBMODERN APPRENTICESHIPS

    • Possible accelerated entry onto the second year of a Modern Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering Contracting or Civil Engineering Consultancy

    • Application for a Graduate Level Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering

    • Higher level study at college on HNC Civil Engineering

    • Progressing straight into a job in the con- struction sector

    • Opening up future avenues for international work and travel, as qualifications are interna- tionally recognised

    • Using the Foundation Apprenticeship along- side Highers to apply to university

    Who should apply for a Foundation Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering? • Pupils will probably be working towards

    achieving one or two Highers over S5 and S6 and their school will need to confirm that they are ready to study at Higher level

    • Pupils should be working towards at least National 5 in Maths, English and a technical or science subject in S5 and be predicted to pass these courses at grade C or above

    What qualifications will pupils achieve? On successful completion, pupils will achieve

    a Foundation Apprenticeship (Group Award) in

    Civil Engineering at SCQF Level 6 (the same

    level as a Higher), which includes:

    • A National Certificate in Civil Engineering at

    SCQF Level 6 (this course consists of 12

    units)

    • A work-based unit from the SVQ in Civil

    Engineering (SCQF Level 6)

    Foundation Apprenticeships are currently accepted as entry requirements for courses at:

    • Abertay University

    • Glasgow Caledonian University

    • Heriot-Watt University

    • Queen Margaret University

    • Robert Gordon University

    • University of Aberdeen

    • University of Dundee

    • University of Glasgow

    • University of Stirling

    • University of the Highlands and Islands

    • University of West of Scotland
