HowtouseCIVIL3Dtocreatepipelineplanimetryandprofile: Civil3disaprogramusedforcivilwork,butweusesomeof itsfeaturestodrawpipelines. Theconceptofmakingpipelineplanimetryandprofileisas follows: Usethepointfromtheroutesurvey. Createsurfacecontainingthelinedrawnanduseitto determinethelevels. Createalignmentpassingthesamepipelineroute. Createtheprofilebytheintersectingpointbetweenthe surfaceandthealignment. Programinterface:

YoushouldstartnewfilewithFile>Newandchoosethe _AutoCADCivil3D(Metric)NCSExtended. ToopenToolspace:General>ToolSpace

CreatingPoints: Twomainmethodstocreatepoint 1stfromthepipelinesurvey(textfile) 2ndmanually 1stFrompipelinesurveyfile: ThefilewillbeintheformofEasting,Northingandlevel (Hardcopy)andyouwillhavetoputitintoaproperform (SoftCopy). Howtomakeinputfile:

2 Asthesurfaceshouldbecreatedontheareanotona line,wewillmakeareaparalleltothelineandcreatethe surfaceonit. Bysteppedoffseticon>selecttheoffsetdistance >selecttheside>andtheelevationdifferenceiszero.

CreatingSurface:

Thenselectthethreelines. Note: Youwillnotneedthesethreelinesagain,soitis recommendedtoputthemintoanewlayerandcloseit. Creatingalignment: Beforecreatingthealignmentyoushouldmakelinepassing thepipeline. Tocreatelinepassingthroughthepipelinetype PLthen'PNthenthenumberofpointsaspreviousinthe polyline

Thenyouselecttheline. Note(VeryImportant): Whenyouselectthelineyoushouldselectitfromthestart nottheendbecauseitwillreversethedirection. TosetthelabelsontheAlignment(Importantonthisstage)

CreatingProfile: Atthisstagewecreatedaplanimetrytothepipelineandwe aregoingtoproducetheprofileoftheline. Profile:itisaschematicdrawingrepresenttheheightsofthe pipelineeveryfixedlength.

Itisimportanttocheckthelabelschapteronhowtomake bandsonthisstage. Creatingsheets: Creatingsheetswillbedoneintwostepsandeachstephas itscustomizationanddatainput. 1stwewillcreateviewframeswhichdeterminethesizeof eachsheet. 2ndwewillproducesheetsfromtheframesandthenumber ofsheetsisequaltoframes. Tocreateviewframes:

Thenextstepisveryimportantandyoumustmakesure thatyouselectthepredefinedband.

Asthepipelinesareeitherundergroundoraboveground,we shouldrepresentboththegroundandthepipeline.
