From The Editor:

Making this issue was not as easy as the last few. April didn’t give us much to work with. only a few days reached head high, and when it did the wind was usually blowing hard onshore.

Luckily we had some great events. The Surf Film Fest, The Jimmy Miller Founda-tions ‘ Wounded Warrior Program and the second annual “Dig 4 Jimmy” kept the “stoke” running through a rather dismal month.

Now that May is here and the South Bay normally hibernates, we will be taking trips down South with some of the South Bay’s best surfers.

We also have a few events upcoming including the “2010-2011 Winter Surf Awards”. This event will crown the “Surfer of the Winter” as well as best maneu-ver, best barrel and best wave. The event will include an action pictorial video feature sequesnces from the winter. We will be announcing the detalis and dates soon on our website www.civiccouch.com or our facebook page .

Some guys refuse to shoot late afternoon. Photographer Ricky Lesser not only likes it but thrives with it. Here he captures the Zaun brothers flying through the afternoon chop.

This years dig 4 Jimmy took place May 1st on the South Side of the Manhattan Beach Pier.

Surfing and volleyball are two of most famous “south bay” activities and are integral to two great non-profit foundations (The Jimmy Miller Foundation and dig 4 Kids) in our commu-nity and the high school friends who inspired the creation of each foundation.
