Womens Central League – 12th May 2013Upper Hutt City FC vs Waterside-Karori
City Review
A word from Upper Hutt CityHi all and welcome to Maidstone Park.
Tonight is our first Chatham Cup match of the year and we havedrawn tough opposition in Miramar Rangers.
We played Miramar a few weeks ago in Central League and thegame ended in a 1-1 draw but today there has to be a winner andI'm sure that both teams will do everything to win and move on tothe next round.
Miramar have proud history in the Chatham cup having won it 4times previously and they have the experience and the pressure tobe up there again. That said, this game is a great opportunity for usto show that we can be a very tough team to beat, especially if wework together and put our best foot forward. We are not here, justto make up the numbers.
In terms of the league side of it, we have lost the last two gamesbut we are still in the mix with 5 points, we have 4 crucial games toplay in the 1st round; Tawa-Napier-Wellington United and our localrivals Lower Hutt. As a team we know the we need to pick points upfrom these 4 games and there is not going to be room for anymistakes.
Enjoy the game

This season we have been lucky enough to secure another localbusiness supporting Upper Hutt City Football. Parapine is a keysponsor along with Upper Hutt Car Sales and we are extremelyappreciative of the contribution they are making to our great club. Itsgreat to have such an involvement from our neighbour Parapinebased directly across the road from us here at Maidstone. Parapinehave provided both our men and women's 1st teams with some muchneeded support and you will notice the Parapine branding on all ourcentral league playing shorts.
Other great news from our friends at Parapine is that they havebecome the major sponsor of the new deck we are looking to installon the pavilion. The deck will be know as the Parapine Platform. While there is yet some more funding to be found around the projectthis is a great start and we appreciate the difference its going tomake on the facility . A Word from Our Womens Coach
This Week the Upper Hutt Car Sales Women’s 1st team are athome to Waterside Karori. Luck has not been on our side of latehaving narrowly missed points against Wellington United and thengetting heavily defeated by Valeron. With the ASB knock out cuptaking place last weekend this has allowed us to refocus and getback to the basics. The team is heading into this match lookingfor their first points of the session and are well aware of themassive challenge at hand.
With 9 new players to the squad and the recent return of WendiHenderson assisting the team it was always going to take a whileto find our feet in Women’s Central League.
Upper Hutt Cars Sales Women’s 1stteam would like to WelcomeWaterside Karori and their supporters to Maidstone today andwish both teams the best of luck.
To our home supporters and sponsors we thank you for your loyalsupport

Central League soonSaturday 18 May Men 5:30 pm Upper Hutt vs TawaSunday 19 May Women 1:00 pm Upper Hutt vs Lower Hutt City
Popped down to the Marauders’ Family Day at Maidstone and found everythingticking along like clockwork and lots of smiles about. Well done Marauders andDan McKissock! John and Colleen were, of course, right in it – althoughtheoretically ‘retired’.
Our next promotion is the Club Day on 8 June with Mike King on at the clubroomsafter. Tickets at $25 are vanishing fast so don’t miss out – see Phil or Noddy.
The Saints, Creeps and under-17s are top of their respective leagues this week.At the other end of the tables Women’s Central, Capital Four and Slayers are in therelegation zone.
Since the last programme, our Upper Hutt City Car Sales Central League teamwere outclassed by Olympic 2-9 with goals scored by Luke (Grinner) Grindlay andAdam Church. I can’t comment on the match,as I did not see it (behind a busy bar).
Last week, on Petone’s new turf, we played well in a game that could have goneeither way. Petone scored first but Luis Corrales scored virtually from the re-start.Each team had periods of dominance and Chris Campbell showed some class, butPetone scored a great goal and then held out against a lot of Upper Hutt pressureto take the points 2-1. Grinner did not play and I heard afterwards that he had acar accident before the game, which I am told was to be his last before his OE. Ihope he’s OK and enjoys his OE before rushing back to US. Upper Hutt is now insixth-equal place on points with Wairarapa and Lower Hutt City, and eighth on goaldifference thanks to Olympic.
Today our opponents at Maidstone 5:30 are Miramar, riding high on the leaguetable and, despite our brave showing (1-2) when we met a couple of weeks ago, favourites to take out this clash. Still, we have had some good runs in the ChathamCup recently, including against much-favoured teams, and anything can happen incup football.Miramar’s scorers have been Paul Ryder 10, Henry Fa’arodo & Thomas Doyle 2,Patrick Fleming 1.

Harcourt HooliganOur Upper Hutt City Car Sales seconds in Capital Two sit sixth on their table
after their 4-1 win against Stop Out (destination of a few of last years seconds whowere, a Stop Out fan says, their best players) and a 3-5 loss to Wests. Scorersagainst Stop Out were Matt Bennett 3 and Ben Horton (who scored a hattrick for the–17s next day), and against Wests Cameron McLachlan (also –17) scored a braceand Haemania Puna one.
This week we face Lower Hutt City, who sit fourth on the table, on Harcourt 1at 2:30.
In Capital Four, our Upper Hutt City Car Sales thirds drew 2-2 with Island BayHHH (P Thomas 2) and lost 2-4 to Island Bay (P Thomas another pair). Big Pete, the Club Chairman, is knocking them in at the moment with five of the team’s eightgoals in two draws and three losses. We lie second-bottom of the table and playLower Hutt Ancient Ones away today. Methinks defence may need attention.
The Upper Hutt Saints in Capital Eight in the last couple of weeks beat VictoriaUniversity Bombers 4-3 with goals from Chris Bingham (3) and Neville Philp, andWaterside Karori Tonners through Aidan Hogan (2) and Bingham. From lastweek’s four-way tie for top-of-the –table, Saints are now in a two-way with Seatoun.Bottom-of-the-table Waterside Karori Meke should not pose a problem even away, but stranger things have happened.
In Capital Eleven, the Marauders beat Waterside Karori Stevedores 5-4 (DarrenBorlase 2, Brett Faint, Dan McKissock, Adrian Van Jaarsveld), and Olympic AKA 5-1 (Faint 2, Ben Winter, Nathan Birch, Jacob ?). They are in equal-fourth place onpoints, fifth on goal difference, and this week play Wellington United Terrace, whoare right behind them, on Harcourt 2 at 12:30. Defence drew 2-2 with WesternSuburbs (Albert Smith, Howie Duffy) and 1-1 with Waterside Karori Marmosets(Mark Brian). They are in eighth place and play Wellington United Honey Badgers(7th) away.
In Capital Fourteen, the Creeps beat North Wellington Bombers 3-0 (RichardGibson-Smith 2, Rob Hill) and Tawa Stu’s Lot 2-0 (Gibson-Smith, Olly Gascoigne)to grab a three-way tie for the lead on points. Third on goal difference, they playStop Out Werewolves away.
The Capital Fifteen Slayers’ claim to be the worst football team in Wellingtonfootball is seriously compromised as their win last Saturday catapulted them to thedizzy heights of sixth-equal on points, ninth-equal on goal difference and tenth ofeleven on goals scored. In the past two weeks, they lost 0-5 to Wainui Roundballsand, gloriously, beat North Wellington Rampage 3-2 (Barry McDonald 2, MartyKenny)
City Review
Harcourt HooliganIn Masters 4, the RJs have surrendered their top-of-table status in losing 1-2 to
Petone Mighty Masters (Tristan Elder) and 4-6 to Stokes Valley Snakes (TristanElder 2, Kevin Blair, Gary Stone). Now fourth-equal on points and fifth on goaldifference, they play Wainuiomata Pacifica on Harcourt 2 at 2:30.
Tomorrow, Maidstone is busy with our Central League Women’s team, CapitalWomen’s Two and Under-17B teams all in action.
Our Central Women’s League team was part of the club’s Central Leaguenightmare on the 27-28 April weekend losing 1-9 to Valeron Wanderers (MelRiddall) in Palmerston North. Last week there were no games.
This weekend, bottom of the table, we play second-placed Waterside Karori,Maidstone 1 pm Sunday. Their goalscorers, so the ones to watch, have been:Rhiannon Jones 3, Emma Rolston 2, Catherine Bott.
In Capital Women’s Two, Yahna Gray’s goal was enough to earn ourWomen’s seconds a 1-1 draw with Stokes Valley and leave us in second place onthe table. Today’s opponents at Maidstone 3pm Sunday are third-placedWainuiomata who have scored 12 (one less than us) and conceded 7 (UHC 2).
Our Under-17Bs, with Cameron McLachlan and Ben Horton from the secondson the card, beat Western Suburbs Spurs 7-2 (Horton 3, Jayden Stone 2, CallumMartin 2) on 28 April. If I remember rightly, we were two- all when McLachlan andHorton were subbed on and the game changed completely. At one stage Hortonwas grabbed and dragged down by a defender and the Wests coach shrugged“What else can you do when he’s just running past you like you’re not there?”.Upper Hutt Under–17 is on top of the table with 10 points, 12 goals for and 5against, and plays bottom-placed Kapiti Coast United with 0 points, 5 for and 16against at Maidstone 11am Sunday.
