Briefly describe your event: The Event Agency is made up of creatively minded event management professionals who specialise in music festivals, urban arts, community and recreational events. We pride ourselves on our collaborative relationships with Local Government Authorities, community groups and committees, and work with them to bring meaningful and enjoyable events to Perth. The Event Agency presents the City of Vincent with its inaugural pop-up roller disco event. The Event Agency team have fused our love of music and roller-skating to bring the people of Perth a new way to skate. We plan to organise a series of pop-up roller disco experiences throughout the year at a variety of venues. The Urban Roller Club in the City of Vincent will be the debut, giving Vincent exclusive rights to the first activation of the series and the media attention that will it will attract. The event will be comprised of three main areas:

1. A roller-skating rink, located within the car park area (using 64 bays) on Oxford Street. 2. A licenced area where food, refreshments and alcoholic beverages will be sold, in the

green space on Lot 25 adjacent to the car par. 3. We would also like to integrate the skate bowl, potentially engaging the amateur roller-

sports group ‘Chicks in Bowls’ to curate some skate demonstrations and workshops. Please note that we are not proposing that we charge the public to enter the skate bowl, but may ask them to pay a fee to participate in the workshops in order to cover our costs and insurance etc.

The event will be split into day and evening sessions:

Day: 9:00am – 7:00pm: Split into 1 hour sessions aimed at families and young adults Opt-in skating lessons at additional cost Organised games and on-skate activities Skating demonstrations Organised competitions

Evening: 7:00pm – 10:00pm:

A three hour “Disco” session with DJ sets playing a variety of music aimed at an 18+ audience

Weekend evenings will feature Roller Skating themed nights e.g. 70’s & 80’s, Rockabilly & Roller Derby etc.

Primary purpose: To invigorate Perth’s sense of playfulness, promote inclusion, social cohesion, healthy living, and

learning through recreational activity. Secondary purpose: To rejuvenate the public perception of the roller disco, bringing it out of the suburbs and into the city. We want to explore changing trends and societies on-going fascination with roller-skating as a leisure activity; from the opening of the first rinks in 1857, to the dated, yet still popular roller rinks of today. What is the benefit to the organisation and broader community? Our goal is to deliver a unique event that supports the on-going strategy of the City of Vincent. We aim to position the City of Vincent as an innovative government organisation that celebrates community engagement in health, promotes leisure activities and focuses on strengthening its relationships with the people of Vincent through the power of play. The Event Agency ultimately wants to develop an on-going relationship with the City of Vincent, working together to highlight its quality lifestyle to both local residents and people living in other districts. We aim to bring the City of Perth an affordable and entertaining activity to occupy their children during the school holidays, and an interesting, engaging recreational activity for adults in a setting where they can socialise and relax. This is one of those unique events that does not discriminate against race, colour, creed, gender, age, religion or sexual orientation. Instead, the event promotes diversity and multicultural inclusion, as it provides access to a broad range of demographics that are looking for a new experience to enjoy with friends and family. There are a number of positive knock on effects of bringing The Urban Roller Club to the City of Vincent. The Event Agency will actively boost the economy in Leederville by only engaging local food outlets in providing a pop-up restaurant, bar, and café for the event. Local businesses and organisations will benefit from the increased footfall that the event will bring into the area. We are also dedicated to providing cross-promotional opportunities to local businesses, community groups and organisations e.g. The Event Agency plan to partner with the YMCA HQ to highlight the excellent work they do in the community and to showcase the talents of the organisations service users.
