Spruce Grove Background
• Spruce Grove is located 11km west of Edmonton, shares a boundary with the Town of Stony Plain to the west and is surrounded by Parkland County.• Growth of Spruce Grove:
• 2017 census indicated a 3.7% growth from 2016;• Average yearly growth rate for the years 2013 to 2017 of 5.8% per annum.
• Spruce Grove has emerged as a major regional commercial centre and industrial base, and is now home to a number of Industrial Subdivisions which employ an estimated 2,100 people. • Population of the City of Spruce Grove is now over 35 000 people and is currently
Alberta’s 9th largest City .
Spruce Grove Development • In 2017, the City of Spruce Grove had 16 Development Agreements with various Land Developers.• In those 16 Development Agreements, there were over 550 residential lots. • 2017 Building Permits:
• Single Detached Residential – 149 ($45 million)• Semi Detached Residential – 148 ($33 Million)• Multi Family – 14 ($5.6 million)• Commercial – 12 ($21 million)• Industrial – 4 ($3.7 Million)• Institutional – 4 ($16.3 Million)
Spruce Grove Projects New Growth Water and Sanitary
Definition: Water/Sanitary Trunk Main construction to keep ahead of growth & development.
New Growth Transportation
Definition: Arterial Roadway construction to keep ahead of growth & development.
Major Maintenance and Rehabilitation – Water and Sanitary
Definition: Yearly, dedicated funding for rehab of the existing water & sanitary sewer system.
Major Maintenance and Rehabilitation - Surface Infrastructure
Definition: Yearly, dedicated funding for rehab of surface infrastructure.
2018 New Growth Water/Sanitary Sewer
• On Going Project:• Complete Zone 1 Water Reservoir and Pump Station.
• Expected to be complete by July, 2018.• New 19 500 cubic meter reservoir and pump station to serve the City to a population of 75 000 people.
• No additional New Growth Water/Sanitary Sewer projects planned for 2018. • Future Work:
• Pioneer Watermain which is a 400mm diameter along the north side of Hwy 16A from Century Road eastward to Pioneer Road.
• Extension of the Boundary Trunk Sewer southward, under Hwy 16A.
2018 New Growth Transportation
• On Going Project:• Grove Drive West construction project (including two roundabouts).• Pioneer Road construction project (including four roundabouts).• $300 000.00 annual budget to construct missing pedestrian trail links.
No additional New Growth Transportation projects planned for 2018.
2018 Major Maintenance and Rehabilitation Water/Sanitary Sewer
The City of Spruce Grove has yearly, dedicated funding in place to attend to aging Water/Sanitary Sewer Infrastructure.
2018 Project – Broxton Park neighborhood replacement of existing cast iron watermains and cc’s.
2018 Major Maintenance and Rehabilitation Surface Infrastructure
The City of Spruce Grove has yearly, dedicated funding in place to attend to aging Surface Infrastructure.
2018 Project – 250mm depth pavement/gravel base/cement powder pulverization and asphalt paving, 50mm mill and overlay, and concrete sidewalks and curb and gutter removal and replacement in the Broxton Park Neighbourhood.
