Did you know City of El Cajon residents can safely dispose of paint and other household hazardous waste at our drop-off center, located at 925 O’Connor Street in El Cajon? Household hazardous waste is accepted on the second and fourth Saturday of the month, by appointment only. Please call (619) 596-5100 to schedule an appointment.

Acceptable items include used oil filters, used motor oil, paint, antifreeze, batteries*, propane tanks, pesticides, household cleaners, pool chemicals and sharps/needles*. *No appointment needed for batteries or sharps. They can be dropped off Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Mattresses can be dropped off for recycling at our location at 925 O’Connor Street in El Cajon, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This location is a participating collection site for Bye Bye Mattress. Residents can drop off up to 5 mattresses per person, per day.
