GENERAL INFORMATION

Please make every effort to register early so the class will not be canceled. Prices and class schedule subject to change without notice.

REFUND POLICY

Refunds will be given on cancellations received prior to the first class or if a doctor’s note is re-ceived. Failure to attend a program or “no shows” will not be granted a refund. If you are not satisfied with any of our programs, please do not hesitate to call 538-5628.

RECREATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The Recreation Scholarship Program has been established for Ceres Residents who meet in-come requirements wishing to participate in a City of Ceres Recreation Program. Approved ap-plicants are eligible for a maximum award of $50 per fiscal year, July 1 to June 30. Applicants will be required to pay any remaining fees not cov-ered by scholarship funds at the time of registra-tion.

Applicants applying for financial assistance must live within the City of Ceres and provide proof that the family income is at or below the current HUD financial guidelines. Applications can be obtained at the Ceres Community Center.

The Parent & Me course allows parents to assist in the development of their child’s comfort level in and out of the water, as well as swimming skills. This program is designed to teach water safety to both parent and child.

Children are more likely to try new foods if they

have a hand in making them. In this class, chil-

dren and their parent-partner will explore tastes,

smells, and textures through a hands-on food ad-

venture. A new dish will be created each week.

These beginning cooking classes will teach chil-

dren how to prepare and cook fresh meals, fun

HOOPSTERS YOUTH BASKETBALL

Join a non-competitive, coed, youth basketball league for children K - 8th grades. The principle of the league is to create a fun environment for children of all abilities to learn and enjoy the game. The league runs 10 weeks with games scheduled for Saturday. Practices are conducted and scheduled during the week by coaches.

Introduce yourself and your toddler to the “World’s Most Popular Game”! As you and your child participate in our fun, age appropriate activi-ties, your child will be developing their large motor skills and socialization skills. A variety of activi-ties designed around the game of soccer will be played each week.

Encourages large motor skill development through fun games and introduces small children to the group setting. Play the exciting game of Soccer! Explore the real sport, yet still in an instructional and nuturing environment. Be challenged by real soccer situa-tions, venture intor the fun tactical side of scrim-maging. Players 7 to 10 years will enjoy age ap-propriate soccer matches and be guided through the possibilities by a KLS youth specialist. Attack and Scoring goals! Pace and Possession! De-fense and Transition! Themes such as these and continued individual skill building will be explored fully on the soccer field by young soccer aficiona-dos.

This program stretches and tones muscles using water resistance. SENIOR LOUNGE

Come on down and take a look at our state of the art Senior Lounge. This dedicated space is the perfect place to socialize with friends, watch TV, play some cards, or read a good book. The lounge is open six days per week, Monday through Saturday, all day.

SENIOR ZUMBA

Zumba fun for active adults and beginning stu-dents. Gentle dance and exercise program with a Latin flavor; Salsa, Merengue. Calypso, Belly Dance, and other international rhythms. No part-ners necessary. Chair participants welcome (as are pillows). This program helps to improve flexi-bility, strength, and balance. The instructor, Donna Joseph, is certified Zumba Basic and Zumba Gold and is a ZIN member. She has taught and performed Middle Eastern Dance for 10 yrs. Donna is also certified for Sports Nutrition and is currently studying Senior Fitness and

Nutrition.

to make a positive impact in our community. Commissioners will be given the opportunity to advise the Recrea-

tion Department, City Council, and other groups on matters relating to youth in Ceres. CYC meets every 3rd

Wednesday of each month at 3:00pm in the Ceres Community Center Teen Room. Ceres Youth Commission

members will have the following responsibilities:

1. Help with community problem solving

2. Provide opportunities and activities for teens in Ceres

3. Conduct community service projects

4. Supervise and facilitate Teen Room in the Ceres Community Center.

The Recreation Division is offering a new and exciting program for families…… BIRTHDAY PARTY PACKAGES

Packages will include set-up, clean-up, 1.5 hours of planned crafts, games and activities, 1/2 hour of cake & gift time (cake not included), plates, napkins, & decorations. Maximum of 12 chil-dren. Parties must be reserved at least 1 month prior to event.

Package Fee: $175

Ages 2 to 5 years

Circus Party-children will use gymnastic equipment, animal costumes and carnival props to participate in their very own CIRCUS. Two games and a circus craft will also be included.

Artibles & Edibles Party-children will celebrate through their senses using water, food, bubbles and other textures to create wonderful pieces of art. Two games and a craft will also be included.

Mini-Cheer Party-children will get to have their very own pom poms, and learn a basic cheer! Two games and a cheer craft will also be in-cluded.

Princess Ballerina Party-children will get be princess ballerinas for the day. Tutus, princess crowns and a ballet dance included!

Ages 6 to 10 years

Prehistoric Party-children will get to be a paleontologists for the day! Exploring history through a fossil dig, and making their own dino-saur tooth necklaces!

Spy Party-children will get to solve a mystery and create their very own foot cast.

Ceramics Party-children will get to paint and glaze 3 ceramic pieces. Prior to the party the customer will have a choice of ceramics (each child will have to do the same 3 pieces). Choices include: dinosaurs, plate, cup saucer, or ring holder and jewelry box.

Olympics Party- Children will participate in several games and relays based on the Olym-pics. An Olympics craft will also be included.

Cheerleading Party– Children will get to have their very own pom poms, and learn a basic cheer! Two games and a cheer craft will also be included.

Chef Party– Children will get to prepare a 3 course meal, plus make their very own cook-book. Chef aprons included.

11 to 13 years

Murder Mystery (CLUE)-youth will get to dress up and solve a murder.

Chef Party-children will get to prepare a 3 course meal, plus make their very own cook-book. Chef aprons included.

Hip Hop Dance Party- youth will get learn 2 street and lyrical dance routines. We will also have a mock celebrity photo shoot for party guest!

Jewelry & Scrapbook Party- youth will create their own necklace, bracelet and friendship scrapbook page.
