Director’s Message

It is my pleasure to invite you to browse through this Activity Guide and not only learn about programs, activities and special events that you might be interested in, but also bring news of the department and city which is exciting. Over the past few months and in the months to come, the City of Bryan and it’s Parks and Recreation Department are putting forth a concerted effort to add programs and renovate, upgrade and develop parks and facilities throughout our park system and community.

While we fully realize that not all plans will reach fruition this year, they will lay the groundwork for the future. Over this past year we have and continue to work on a Parks Improvement Plan which will give us direction and guidance for the work needed in the parks and for the development of other parks and facilities.

It is an exciting time as we strive to plan and offer programs and facilities to our residents that are needed and wanted. I encourage one and all to contact us and let us know how we can be of service to you and the type of programs, parks and facilities that you feel are needed in the City of Bryan.Together we can and will help insure that Bryan is “The Good Life, Texas Style”.

The City of Bryan’s Water-Fit aquatic fitness class is designed to push anyone, of any fitness level. This four (4) week class meets twice a week at the Bryan Aquatic Center and focuses on aerobic conditioning and toning of the body by using the resistance of the water and a variety of challenging aquatic exercises. Water-Fit is definitely a step up from water aero-bics and your body will know it when the work out is over. It’s also a great option for those who are limited by orthopedic issues when it comes to traditional land based fitness programs.

There are two options to register:1) Register at any time for a full 4 week sesion, with any classes already completed prorated from the fees.2) Sign up for classes on an individual day of your choosing.

The City of Bryan’s Prenatal/Postpartum water fitness class is fun and challenging for expecting and recent moms! You will use the resistance of the water to tone your body and stay in shape during your pregnancy or after when traditional fitness routines may not be an option. As an added bonus, the water will also help reduce swelling and you will be weightless in the water (PRICELESS!)

The Stroke Clinic is designed to give swimmers a chance to refine strokes and improve technique before the Summer swim season begins.
