Minutes – Regular Monthly Meeting October 15, 2019 – 6:30 PM
Commissioner Hardy called meeting to order.
Roll Call – Civil Service Clerk Jeffrey Whiting took the roll. Present were Commissioner Jack Hardy,
Commissioner Laurie Turo- Butler, and Commissioner Mikel Zank. Also present was Police Chief Shawn
Butler, Police Lieutenant James Slayton, Director of Planning and Economic Development, and Assistant
Superintendent of Personnel Jeffrey Evener.
Approval of meeting minutes for September 9, 2019. Commissioner Zank motioned to approve minutes.
Commissioner Turo-Butler 2nd
. Carried 3-0.
New Business
Discussion of School District’s request to create a Public Information Specialist title. Commissioner
Turo-Butler motioned to approve the title creation and job specification. Commissioner Zank 2nd
.
Carried 3-0.
Discussion of adding two Administrative Assistant positions in the Code Enforcement office.
Commissioner Turo-Butler motioned to approve the creation of the two positions. Commissioner Zank

. Carried 3-0.
Discussion of candidate’s appeal to reverse disapproval the Police Captain #72-790 examination
application. Commissioner Turo-Butler motioned to uphold the application disapproval. Commissioner
Zank 2nd

Discussion of candidate’s request for transfer to the Auburn Police Department. Commissioner Hardy
motioned to approve candidate’s request for transfer. Commissioner Turo-Butler 2nd
