• We are currently having tremendous problems like traffic, as well as promoting and recruiting children around Galarza and Washington schools. We want to avoid serious conflicts for the entire neighborhood. We want respect for the parents and children of these schools by the personnel of Rocketship. Sincerely, C.V.
• I feel very sad that many of the parents from Rocketship charter schools verbally abuse and harass the parents from Washington Elementary School, saying that Washington students are academically below Rocketship students when I believe this is not true. The parents from Washington do not harass the parents of Rocketship. Sincerely, G.L.
• In my opinion we all deserve respect. I do not appreciate that there are people at Rocketship who accused the principal here at Washington of threatening me to stay at this school. I am not, and do not feel threatened by anyone to continue to have my children well-educated here. Each person should be able to have their children wherever they feel is best. Sincerely B.P.
• One thing that bothers me is the fact that some Rocketship parents say, non true things about our school. For example, they accuse Washington of being a low academic performing school, and that parents and teachers are irresponsible. Sincerely M.M.

Is Local Network Solvent? Morgan Hill Unified Concerns on
Rocketship Solvency
Slide 36 Source: Morgan Hill Unified Board Agenda, Nov 5th, 2013
Is National Network Solvent?
Based on projections made available for a Rocketship board meeting this week, Rocketship Southside Community Prep, at 3003 W. Cleveland Ave., won't break even until 2016-'17. The parent network based in San Jose, Calif. will help provide some relief, according to Rocketship documents. Venskus said a higher-than-anticipated number of children with special needs enrolling in the school had also affected financial projections. About 14% of the school's students have special needs, compared with an average 7% of students with special needs at the network's California schools.

Significant need for external fund raising for the next 5 years raises questions about long term solvency.
Slide 38
National Offices have sole authority to close schools
• Unelected board does not provide adequate community feedback in case school would close.
• Joint use agreement makes this different than a normal charter or private school.
• Rocketship is a young organization, heavily leveraged with aggressive growth plans.
• Are they sufficiently solvent for a 30 year joint use agreement?
• Is there contigency for a system wide Rocketship failure?
• High Density of Rocketships in community make solvency requirements more strict.
