LOCATION BASED SERVICES

Fundamentals on Location Based Servicescan be applied to a variety of sources, e.g.

Mobiles, GPS-Systems, Websites,…deliver services in reference of the current /

desired locationservices can appear as places, activities or any

kind of informationthe content enrichment is almost independent of

the used deviceexamples are the „Home Zone“, Emergency Call

Localization, POIs on GPS-Systems

LOCATION BASED SERVICES IN THE AUTOMOTIVE DOMAIN

Thoughts on LBS in the Automotive Domainfrom the customer point of view

real time and up to date information while on the road value added services on the fly

from the vendor point of view gain an unique selling proposition separation of concern, decrease overload of the bus obtain more information about the vehicles and the

customers allign with Gartner prognosis from Thilo Koslowski:

„Vehicle Navigation Must Evolve or Face Commoditization”

ORIGINAL IDEA OF CEP & AUTOMOTIVE NAVIGATION SYSTEMS

Paco Gomez from Oracle Corp. built a tutorial on location based services

Anton Kramm, formerly at Audi, initiated a Proof of Concept with Audi and CITT

rather than letting the PoC face extinction we kept it alive and gave it a new infrastructure
