FISH BITES The Marlins and Mets conclude their four-game weekend set today at 1:10 p.m. at Citi Field in New York. The Marlins start right-hander Tom Koehler (1-1, 3.18), who grew up in New Rochelle, NY and is 0-1, 3.62 in five career appear- ances (four starts) at Citi Field. The Mets counter with RHP Matt Harvey (2-0, 2.25), who is 0-1, 3.52 in four starts vs. the Marlins. The Marlins are 2-4 on this trip, going 2-1 in Atlanta and dropping the first three games here Citi Field. The Club will conclude this trip with a visit to Philadelphia (April 21-23) following an off-day tomorrow. VS. METS After dropping the first two in this series, the Marlins are now 172-188 all-time vs. the Mets, 24-33 at Citi Field. The last time the Marlins had a winning record at Citi Field was 2011 (5-4). The Fish were 58-67 all-time at Shea Stadium. UP NEXT The Marlins, who have an off-day tomorrow, travel to Philadelphia, where they will open up a three-game series on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park against the Phillies (7:05 p.m.). The Marlins were 9-10 vs. the Phillies last year, just 3-7 in Philadelphia. All-time, the Fish are 161-198 against the Phillies, 68-112 in Philadelphia (42-61 at Citizens Bank Park). LAST NIGHT The Marlins dropped their third straight at Citi Field, 5-4, to the Mets last night. The Mets scored a run in the second and third innings and added three more in the sixth to go up 5-0, before Miami scored a run in the eighth and three in the ninth in a last at-bat rally that fell short. Mat Latos (0-3) allowed two runs in five innings on six hits and a walk, with five strikeouts, to take the loss. Dee Gordon was 5x5 with a double and three RBI, matching the club record and a career high in hits. In the ninth, Michael Morse hit a solo shot, his second of the season, and Gordon had a two-run single, but Miami couldn’t complete the comeback. HIGH FIVE Dee Gordon matched the Marlins’ club record with five hits last night, becoming 13 th Marlins player (15 th time) to record five hits in a game. The last Marlin with five hits in a game was Giancarlo Stanton, on August 11, 2010 at Wash- ington. Gordon is the 10 th Marlin (11 th time) to record five hits in five at-bats. A NEW HR KING IN MIAMI Giancarlo Stanton, who now has 156 career home runs, hit his first home run of the season Thursday night to become the Marlins all-time home run leader. His two-run shot in the first inning Thursday broke a tie with Dan Uggla (155 home runs) for the most career home runs in Marlins’ history. HITTING NEW YORK Giancarlo Stanton was 0x4 last night, snapping his streak of five consecutive games with a home run against the Mets, dating back to September 1 of last season. It was the second time in his career that Stanton had a home-run streak of five-or-more games against one opponent: he also had a five-game streak against Colorado from April 24, 2011 to May 21, 2012. The only other Marlins’ player to homer in five straight games vs. one opponent is Marcell Ozuna, who owns a current five-game homer streak vs. Milwaukee; Ozuna’s streak is the longest active streak in the Majors. Stanton tied the record for the longest home-run streak against the Mets, shared by Hank Aaron (July 26, 1962-April 11, 1963) and Ryan Howard (August 17, 2006-April 9, 2007). SPEED DEMON Since the start of 2014, Dee Gordon has stolen 70 total bases, six of those coming this season. His 70 stolen bases fall just one short of the entire total of the Boston Red Sox (71) in that same time frame, and are more than four teams. The Marlins have stolen 67 bases (including Gordon’s six this year), followed by St. Louis (64), San Francisco (61) and Baltimore (47). – STATS LLC PICKING UP THE PACE The Marlins have nine stolen bases, ranking third in the National League, behind Cincinnati (12) and the Cubs (12), and tied with Kansas City for sixth in the Majors, behind Detroit (13), the Reds, the Cubs, Tampa Bay (12) and Houston (11). In 2014, the Fish did not record their ninth stolen base until their 33 rd game, on May 6, and did not swipe their 10 th bag until their 39 th game, on May 12. The Marlins finished with 58 stolen bases last year. DEE-FEAT PARKINSON’S The month of April is national Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and Dee Gordon is encouraging fans to pledge support to The Blechman Foundation for every stolen base he records in April. The Blechman Foundation for Parkinson’s Re- search is based in Miami. Gordon currently has four stolen bases. For additional information and to pledge support, fans can visit: http://blechmanfoundation.org/dee-feat-pd/ AROUND THE HORN The Marlins currently rank third in the National League in fielding percentage, at .991 (449 total chances/4 errors). Their four errors are the third-fewest in the Senior Circuit, behind Atlanta (1) and Pittsburgh (2). Miami was fifth in the NL in fielding percentage in 2014 (.984). MARLINS VS.
