FACT: The Lemont refinery is an important and vital part of the CITGO operations. The 167,000 barrels-per-day refinery is a strategic supplier of gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel and home heating oil to the Upper Midwest. The Lemont refinery receives most of its crude oil supply from Canada. The crude is then refined and shipped via affiliate pipelines to the CITGO propriety terminal system to serve consumers in the Upper Midwest. Recently upgraded with new equipment to reduce atmospheric emissions, the gasoline refined at Lemont is virtually sulfur-free. The refinery also continues to play a central role in the Lemont community, providing almost 1,000 full-time and contract jobs to local residents and supporting local organizations, including womenʼs shelters, the local Cerebral Palsy camp and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

FACT: The CITGO terminals in Madison, Milwaukee and Green Bay supply fuel to the more than 370 CITGO stations across Wisconsin and to hundreds of other stations across the Upper Midwest.Millions of gallons of gasoline and diesel products are distributed through the Wisconsin terminals annually, ensuring that fuel is available 365 days-a-year, no matter what the weather conditions. The terminal facilities play a central role in the community, providing full-time jobs to local residents and supporting local organizations. For example, terminal workers are active members in their local chambers of commerce and terminal co-ops, providing logistical assistance and sharing ideas about business development. Additionally, they proactively support education, adopting classes and showing students how oil becomes fuel, helping local students with reading programs and providing guidance to high school seniors. Terminal personnel also are actively involved in state and local emergency management programs and they also volunteer in their local communities.

FACT: CITGO believes in fueling good.As a corporation in 2009, CITGO invested more than $80 million in contributions and thousands of dedicated volunteer hours in social development efforts aimed to create sustainable communities across the United States. The CITGO-Venezuela Heating Oil Program, which distributes millions of gallons of heating oil to low-income families each year, has become the largest energy assistance social program developed by any oil company in the country. Additionally, other significant programs include environmental restoration efforts at Pettyʼs Island in New Jersey and numerous education development initiatives in The South Bronx, New York. As the largest corporate sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), CITGO and its gasoline distributors and retail locations have raised more than $120 million since 1986, including $11 million in 2009. Additionally in 2009, FuelingGood, the CITGO consumer-driven Web site geared toward rewarding good works in local communities was launched. Through this effort, six worthy charities received a yearʼs worth of gas money and 30 runners-up were awarded $50 CITGO Gift cards.

FACT: CITGO is committed to local communities. Each CITGO station is locally owned and operated. Local stations support their communities with jobs and taxes as well as with a wide range of community and philanthropic activities. For example, CITGO gasoline distributors and retail locations in Wisconsin, participate in MDA golf and fishing tournaments and provide holiday joy to needy children through their long-term support of Milwaukee Toys for Tots.

FACT: Local CITGO stations support the local economy. The more than 370 locally owned and operated CITGO stations across Wisconsin provide nearly 2,900 jobs to hard-working Americans in their communities and generate local, state and federal taxes that support important programs in the state.

FACT: CITGO is more than just energy. The people of CITGO have always known the importance of being a good neighbor. We donʼt want to simply serve communities; we want to strengthen them. Thatʼs why weʼre committed to providing both the fuel and local jobs that keep our neighborhoods moving ahead.
