NJR UPDATE Spring Board Meeting Report

    from the Sr NJR!

    Greetings, JB Canada!

    The NJRs were just representing

the junior voice at the Spring

Board Meeting, with all of the

    chapter chairs and national

    executive. After a long,

    exhausting, and productive

    weekend, here is a brief

    synopsis of some important

    things we discussed:

    1) Risk Management: drivers

    during activities must be 19+,

carry a full license, and have a

    minimum of $1M liability

    2) National President starting

    after NBM: Blair Lockhart from

    Vancouver (Mercedes and

    Sandys mom!)

    3) JB liaisons: nominated by

    juniors, elected by the chapter

board we will be going over

the role of liaison with juniors,

    liaisons, and chapter boards at

    SBTF and NBM

    4) Organizational Review: We

will be coming up with 4 new

    JB goals at the International

    Junior Branch Conference, and

    discussing how often we should

    be meeting

Be prepared for some big and

    exciting changes happening in

JB Canada! Were going to start discussing at SBTF, and

    continue discussing at NBM!

    Hey JB Canada!

Sending love all the way from

    Calgary!

    This past weekend (May 4-6)

Julia and I spent a wonderful

few days in Toronto with your

    Chapter Chairs and CISV

Canadas National Executive. We met for 3 jam packed days

    of decision making and

    brainstorming. We covered

heaps of topics all the way

    from Finances and Chapter

    Development to JB and Risk

    Management. As Jr. NJR this

was my first experience at SBM

    (Spring Board Meeting),

although I had expected it to

be pretty much exactly what it

    was, (boring at points but

    incredibly educational) I found

    myself not only having an

    excellent time but also learning

    a tremendous amount about

    how exactly CISV Canada

    operates and why.

As juniors, we play a very

    significant role at SBM;

    frequently we are referred to

    and asked questions about just

    how changes would affect us

or how we can provide input

    from a different viewpoint. Also

as juniors we are required to

    update the board by

presenting a report. As NJRs it is

    our responsibility to represent

what you all are doing and

    future plans. We talked SBTF

2012, Nat Camp, and all things

    international.

For your records, Julia and I will

soon be jetting off to Europe

    for some International

    meetings. While in Paris, France

    we will be attending 3

    separate conferences over the

    course of three weeks.

    Americas Regional Members

    Meeting (ARMM; All NJRs from

    across North, Central, and

    South Americas), IJBC

    (International Junior Branch

    Conference; All NJRs and

    juniors from around the world)

    and AIM (Annual International

    Meeting; All presidents,

    trustees, committees,

    international executive and

    juniors from around the world.

Basically a world NBM!) will all

    be huge opportunities for Julia

and I to be the voice of JB

Canada. After all is said and

done in Paris, we will then fly

over the Atlantic and land in

    the beautiful community of

    Waterloo and staff National

    Camp!

Julia and I had a wonderful

    time together over the past

    weekend and certainly had no

shortage of laughter. I am very

    lucky to work with someone

who makes me so happy and

    who laughs at my terrible

    jokes... This was hugely

    important this weekend in

    Toronto. Because we get along

so well, we are able to bounce

    off each other and provide

    support for one another in

order to represent you all to

the best of our abilities. SBTF is

in no time at all and before we

know it you all will be in front of

    us in Toronto!

I am SO looking forward to it!

If you have any questions or

    concerns with regards to

ANYTHING at all, whether it be

about your local JB or anything

    National and International I am

    ALWAYS available. Either send

    me an email

. I am realizing this is getting a

bit long SO I shall cut it here and say that I hope you all are

    happy and healthy! Be Good,

    Make GOOD Choices, BE

    RESPONSIBLE!

Lots of love to you all,

    Hey JB!

Your CommSquad is hard at work again, putting together another great looking Canuck for your viewing pleasure. Otherwise, ours is more of an on-going job. We're working to keep you all updated on national and international news through email, facebook, and twitter.

And of course the best part of our job, pestering LJRs to send postcards and Canuck articles :) Any questions? Comments? Concerns? Professions of love? Feel free to send them our way! [email protected] @JBCommSquad Much love, Emily & Grace

    projects happening with JB

    Canada right now.

And not to brag, but they

are as exciting as a Panda

    Bear riding a Unicorn (see

    photo to the side)

Ask your LJRs for the story

    sent out called Juliet and

Doris, it is a lovely story

about a seagull and a killer

whale. It is the first story

    written for the CISV Canada
