IBM Notes Contact Search (Windows)

• Jabber lets you search for local contacts in IBM Notes (formally Lotus Notes).

• Feature is enabled in the jabber-config.xml file by setting keys to true

<EnableLocalAddressBookSearch> <EnableLotusNotesContactResolution>

• Jabber also supports calendar integration with IBM Notes

Support for Windows 10 • Desk phone enable video

communication for existing desk phone.

• Phone provides audio and video is displayed by Jabber.

• Jabber 11.1 introduces support for Desk phone video on Windows 10 workstations.

Cisco Jabber 11.5

• 11.5 is the latest Jabber client for Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad & Android devices.

• New cross platform features

• Major feature alignment for Mac/Windows

• Many new platform specific features including UE enhancements and cross platform feature alignments.

Introduction

• Also known as IM Carbon Copy

• Allows ALL messages to be delivered to ALL logged-in clients

• Notifications are synchronized; if an IM is read on one device, it shows as read on other signed-in devices

• On by default in Cisco Jabber 11.5 or later

• Supported only with WebEx Messenger*

Multiple Device Messaging (MDM)

• Option appears when more than one contact is selected

Jabber for iPhone now provides an Apple watch

app allowing you to use Jabber on your phone.

With the Jabber App on Apple Watch, you can:

• Check new chat messages

• Reply a chat with text (Siri), emoticons, and pre-defined messages.

• Answer/Decline/End a call • Mute/Unmute a call

• Check recent calls • Call back to a contact from recents

• Change your presence

Jabber App on Android Wear

Jabber for Android provides an Android wear

Watch App.

With the Jabber App on Android Wear, you can:

• Check new chat messages

• Reply a chat with text, emoticons, and pre-defined messages.

• Answer/Decline a call • Check recent calls

• Call back to a contact from resents • Play a new voicemail

Jabber for Windows now displays a screen selection menu when a user starts screen share.

Concepts: User Types • Users can have different roles/ affiliations to a room

– OWNER (Typically an Administrator) Owner is creator of chat room Has full management of the chat room

– MODERATOR Manage Users (Add, Block, Mute, Remove Users)

– MEMBER Contribute Chat and content to room

– Administration takes place at a system level or room level

– Administrator control policy for room creation and settings

– An Administrator may be a Room Owner

Concepts: File Transfer

• Persistent Chat can support IM&P Managed file transfer(MFT)

• Jabber provides several operating modes for File Transfer – Point to Point File Transfer

– Managed File Transfer (MFT)

– Hybrid Managed File Transfer (HMFT)

• MFT is Optional feature that is enabled/configured by admin

• Allows room members to post documents into a room for later download

• Allows room members to share screen captures to chat rooms

• Note: Managed file transfer supported on Windows, Mac, IOS and Android
