The Cisco Academy offers Cisco Certified Entry-level Network Technician and Cisco Certified Network Associate training that prepares students to install, configure, and operate various networking systems. The Cisco Networking Academy Program is a comprehensive- learning program that provides students with the IT skills essential in our global economy. The Networking Academy delivers web-based content, online assessment, student performance tracking, hands-on labs, instructor support, and preparation for the CCENT and CCNA industry-standard certifications. What are the classes about? • Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) validates the ability to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security. With a CCENT, a network professional demonstrates the skills required for entry-level network support positions - the starting point for many successful careers in networking. • The curriculum covers networking fundamentals, WAN technologies, basic security and wireless concepts, routing and switching fundamentals, and configuring simple networks. CCENT is the first step toward achieving CCNA, which covers medium-size enterprise branch networks with more complex connections. • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching is a certification program for entry-level network engineers that helps maximize your investment in foundational networking knowledge and increase the value of your employer’s network. CCNA Routing and Switching focuses on the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks. What skills will students learn? • Through theory and practice, learn how to design, install, configure, and maintain simple- routed LAN (IP, IGRP, Serial, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, Ethernet, Access Lists), routed WAN, and switched LAN networks Learn how to optimize WANs through Internet access solutions that reduce bandwidth and reduces WAN costs using features such as Filtering with Access Lists, Bandwidth on Demand (BOD). Students will also perform several “hands-on” activities including working individually and in groups with networking cabling/media and various models of routers, switches, and other networking devices used throughout the IT industry. Concepts laboratory exercises focus on IP, Ethernet based LANs, Frame Relay and Serial WANs interior routing protocols such as RIP, EIGRP, OSPF and exterior protocols such as BGP. Academic’s focus on reading, math (subnetting, number conversion) and note taking. What Certifications are available? • CCENT - Cisco Certified Entry-Level Technician • CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Associate What jobs/job titles are available to the students after graduation? • Network Administrator • Network Engineer • Systems Support Technician • Network Designer • Network Security Systems Designer What work skills will be needed for these jobs? • Interest in science & technology • Strong communication & reading What skills should a student have to be successful in your program? Understanding computer hardware is by far the most important to be successful in this career. Math, reading and communication need to be strong skills as well. Students will also need to be drug free. CISCO NETWORKING
