Components of Blood

• About 55% of blood is a liquid called plasma.– Contains proteins, minerals, and

other substances.

• Red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the cells.

• White blood cells fight infection.• Platelets are important for

clotting blood.

1. Blood that is low in oxygen flows from veins into the right atrium
