Section A Important Information

The 2013 Victorian Junior Lifesaving Championships will be held on Saturday 23 & Sunday 24 March 2013 at Lorne SLSC.

A1 Important Traffic Information

Clubs will be able to drop off craft trailers from 12:00 pm on Friday, 22 March 2013 until 8:00 pm at Lorne SLSC Car Park. Vehicles must drive in to the car park from Mountjoy Parade (enter opposite Lorne Hotel). Trailers must be detached and LSV vehicles will take all trailers across the grass to the gear compound. On Saturday 23 March, craft will be allowed to be dropped off from 6:30am – 9:00am and can be removed from 4:00pm - 6:00pm that afternoon.

*Lorne SLSC Car Park is a No Drop Off Zone

On Sunday 24, there will be no access for dropping of trailers. Trailers can be removed from 2:00pm - 6:00pm. PERMITTED VEHICLES ONLY will be allowed to be in this area outside of the times allocated. If you cannot make these times, please contact the Aquatic Sports Department to arrange a time ((03) 9676 6937).

Parking is available for VIPs in the Car Park next to the Lorne SLSC. Car Park passes must be presented on arrival and displayed on car dash boards.

There are multiple areas for parking for Officials and club members. There is a car park to the east of the club (behind the restaurant) which is available. Please enter by turning left at the Otway Street Roundabout (heading in to Lorne). LSV recommends that all attendee’s, where possible, either walk or car pool to the venue.

Additional parking can be located along MountJoy Parade between the Lorne SLSC and the Pier, and also in local streets inland of the foreshore.

LSV reminds all members to read parking signs and to not park next to YELLOW marked lines on the road. You will be fined in these areas.

A2 Contingency Venues

*In the case of a CODE RED Fire danger day, all competitors and members will be notified about the cancellation of the event as soon as possible prior to start.

Conditions will be monitored in the lead up and during the event. If it is deemed that conditions are not suitable for competition the Championships will be moved, with clubs being notified ASAP via social media:

A3 Local Information

The Surf Coast Shire Council is a great supporter of the Championships and has requested that members be respectful of the Lorne SLSC surroundings.

Parking areas have been allocated for this event; please refer to attached maps for parking areas and directions to the event. Local parking laws will apply, please make sure you read signs before leaving your vehicle.

The following list has been designed to assist club officers to complete the necessary entries for competitors competing at the 2013 Victorian Junior Lifesaving Championships at Lorne.

□ ENTRIES - SUBMISSION AND CLOSING DATE

Entries for the Victorian Junior Lifesaving Championships close 11:59 pm EDST Wednesday, 13 March 2013 via the LSV online entry system located on the LSV website under sport or visiting:

Championship entries are $30 for all competitors. Once entries close on Thursday, 14 March 2013 competitors cannot be deleted from Team Lists. Clubs are reminded that all competitors must be proficient and have completed the relevant Surf Education Award appropriate to their age group.

This is the only accepted method of submission for entries in accordance with the instructions set out on the website. There will be no late entries for the State Championships.

MARCH PAST & FLAG BEARERS

If Clubs are unable to provide a full March Past team, they are still invited to bring their Club Pennant, and a Pennant Bearer, to March behind the full March Past teams. Clubs will be required to marshal to the March Past Coordinator Dinah Boswell, in the March Past marshaling area, at 4.00pm Saturday, 23 March. Club competitors should be attired in team uniform with club caps for the March Past.

Team managers must register and confirm their team list at the Championships during the allocated times, dates and locations.

B1 Entry information

All competitors must be current financial and proficient members of Life Saving Victoria to enter events.

Please note – Officials, Powercraft & Water safety will not be charged any entry fee. Please note – Team Managers are the only club representatives to approach the administration desk. Clubs are also requested to write each competitors age group on their upper arms in thick black texta.

Tax Invoice

A Tax Invoice will be generated at the conclusion of the event and sent out to clubs within two (2) weeks of the Championships.

Refund of fees / Cancellation fees

(i) Entry Fees are non-refundable if members do not take part in these Championships after being registered.

(ii) If the Championships are cancelled, with no postponement before the first event is conducted, 75% of all entry fees will be refunded to all clubs [25% including GST, will be retained for administration costs]

(iii) If the Championships are cancelled after an event is conducted, no refund will be given.

C1 Official’s Appointments

The Championships Chief Referee for the 2013 Victorian Junior Lifesaving Championships is Maurice McCutcheon.

Key position officials have been notified by of their appointments.

C2 Officials Requirements

Please remember clubs MUST enter Officials and Water Safety as per the ratio and rosters outlined in the 2012/2013 Team Manager’s & Official’s Handbook.

Water safety personnel must hold a current SRC or Bronze Medallion qualification.

Officials should have a minimum qualification of junior official however officials that have attended junior officials courses, and are still in training are also very welcome to officiate at the carnival. These officials should be getting their 3rd party assessment report signed off by the carnival referee at the end of the day.

Clubs are welcome to put forward officials that are not accredited and have not yet attended a course, however these individuals will need to be under supervision of an accredited official, and must attend the next available officials course.

C3 Officials / Team Managers Briefing

Official’s Briefing

An Official’s briefing will be held at 8:00am on Saturday, 23 March and Sunday, 24 March for ALL officials at the Lorne SLSC, on the beach in front of the club house. The briefing will be conducted by the Championships Chief Referee, Maurice McCutcheon.

Team Managers

There will be a Team Managers Meeting on Saturday, 23 March and Sunday, 24 March at 8:30am at the Lorne SLSC, on the beach in front of the club house. The meeting will be conducted by the Championships Chief Referee, Maurice McCutcheon.

D1 Parking

Parking is available for Officials & VIPs in the Lorne SLSC Car Park next to the clubhouse. Car Park passes must be presented on arrival and displayed on car dash boards.

D2 Security

There will be security provided overnight for the Friday & Saturday nights of the Championships. The security will be of a roaming nature as there will be multiple sites for storing equipment and gear trailers overnight. Please note that whilst security will be on site LSV can take no responsibility for equipment lost or damaged for the duration of the Championships.
