Definition: In depth understanding of the role of socio -cultural,

religious, historical, geographical, geological, and technological

factors in the development of architecture.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of the program, thestudent shall be able to:

1. describe and explain the factors (socio -cultural, religious, historical ,

geographical, geological, and technological, etc.), that affect the

development of architecture through the ages.

2. distinguish and identify the characteristics of the architecture of a

specific culture through plans, elevations, sections, ornamentations,

be able to explain these as manifestations of affective factors in the

development of architecture.
