“The follow-up to the highly acclaimed Cinematic Percussion”

Thank you for purchasing Cinematic Percussion 2

Cinematic Percussion 2 Kontakt patches (Kontakt 4 and Kontakt

5) include a custom user interface with various features to help

make it easier to customize the include loops and sounds exactly

how you want. You’ll find all loops automatically sync to your

host tempo. Each loop is presented in three different ways.

First, with the “Kit Combos” you’ll find each loop as part of a

complete construction kit laid out across the keyboard for easy

and quick arrangements.

Second, each loop has its own patch in the “sliced loops” section

with our custom loop editing interface. Rearrange, remix, or

completely rework each loop to fit with your music exactly how

you want.

Finally we have included a demo section for quick auditioning of

the entire library.

... Cinematic Percussion 2/ CONTENT

Cinematic Percussion 2/

Cinematic Percussion 2 includes over 4.7 GB of content with 1,155 different kontakt patches

duplicated in both Kontakt 4 and Kontakt 5 versions.

Demo Patch - There is a Demo Patch which provides the user with all of the demos from

each of the song kits in one instrument. Demos are mapped starting at C3 on the keyboard.

Kit Combos - 30 patches are included in the Kit Combos section. Each patch contains all the

loops from that construction kit to create quick and easy arrangements. Loops start at C0

on the keyboard

Sliced Loops - Each loop from the product has been given its own patch and can be edited

extensively using the “loop fx” interface. The full loop can be triggered at C0. The loop can

be played backward at D0. Individual slices start at C1 on the keyboard.

An overview of how the KLI Series works can be found HERE.

Features regarding the KLI Series 2.0 update can be found HERE.

The instrument FX interface includes various different sound effects that can be applied to the

patch. Many assigned midi CC’s are displayed in the start up page of each patch. From here you

can choose which FX you’d like to edit from the “select fx” drop down menu. Our Kontakt 5

patches include many new FX not found in the Kontakt 4 version.

The most extensive editing can be done in the “sliced loop” patches. Each loop is

given it’s own patch with an interface that allows for extensive loop manipulation.

Adjustments to volume, pitch, play back direction, attack, decay, cutoff, and resonance

can all be applied to each slice of the loop by first selecting the parameter you want to

effect at the top and then clicking within each slice to edit that parameter.

LOOP FX

KEY TERMSVolume - By default the volume is set to 100% for each slice. To make adjustments,

click on a slice then drag down to decrease the volume of that slice.

Pitch - Pitch can be adjusted up to 12 positive or negative semitones. To make

adjustments, click on the white horizontal line in the center of a slice, then drag up or

down.

Reverse - To reverse a slice, click on the bottom, then drag up.

Attack - Attack specifies the time it will take the slice to reach its maximum level when

the MIDI note is received. To add a longer attack time, click on a slice then drag up.

Cutoff - Cutoff by default is set to 100%. To change the cutoff frequency, click on a

slice, then drag down.

Resonance - Resonance adjusts the emphasis of the frequency area around the Cutoff

frequency. To change the amount of resonance, click on a slice, then drag up.

If after making changes, you decide you would like to return to the default settings,

instead of re-loading the patch, click on the edit button to the left of the waveform

display and choose “Reset to Default.” This will reset all changes made.

Cinematic Percussion 2/LOOP FX CONT’D

KEY TERMS CONT’DThere are a couple of useful combination key stroke and mouse clicks that can make

editing slices a little easier. Option+command+click (Mac) or Control+Alt+Click (PC)

resets slice parameters to zero. Holding down those keys and dragging up or down

allows all slices to be edited at the same time. To draw a line across multiple slices

press the Option/Alt key, click on a slice as your start point for the line. Next, release

ONLY the mouse button, while still holding the Option/Alt key, click on the slice that

you’d like to draw the line to and drag up or down to create the line.

There are two keyswitches to change how the loop will playback. The mode is changed

by one of the two key switches starting at C0.

C0 (Red Key) - Play loop forward

D0 (Blue Key) - Play loop backward

There are a few other features available in the sliced loops as described below:

Input Q - Offsets loop playback by the selected value.

BPM - This drop down menu has three settings: X1 X2 and X0.5. This is useful to set

your loops to half-time or double-time speed from whatever tempo your daw is set to.

One Shot – When the “One Shot” button is active, each slice will only play the sound

contained in that slice. When One Shot mode is not active, the remainder of the loop

will continue playing from the slice that was triggered. (Note: When “one-shot” mode

is active the loop can still be played in it’s entirety by playing C0.

Presets - There is a knob at the lower right hand corner called presets. This can be

used to create multiple edits of the same loop for up to 16 different presets

Midi Files - A midi file of the loop can be dragged from the interface to your track by

using the icon in the upper right hand corner of the loop waveform display. These can

be very helpful to completely rearrange the loop, quantize, or to simply make minor

changes to the various slices of the loop.

To see the name of the loop currently being played select the display tab at the bottom.

This tab is only available in the “Kit Combos” section.

Every Kit combo contains a simple mixing window. Each group of instruments has been given a

mixer to control pan and volume. Often, many loops can be grouped under one mixing fader. You

will find this when you have multiple versions of the same instrument part. For example, you may

have 3 different Conga loops, so all the Conga loops would be controlled by the main “Conga” mixer.

Tune: There is a button in the mixer window called “Tune”. Clicking on this will bring up a window

with knobs to adjust the pitch of each group of instruments. -12/+12
