Dear Readers,

You would know the famous director’s pose with both the hand together facing palm side out, its nothing but the director trying to see what he sees in his mind’s eye. I should say its not easy to imagine something and bring out the same in film and make people fall in love with it. Truly a commendable job and I guess the di-rectors are not being credited enough.

“Cinema is a matter of what’s in the frame and what’s out.”Martin Scorsese As a captain of the ship, the director has to be on toes at all times and the desperation to make the audience to see what he sees in his brain is something that can be done only by a very few individuals. A good director is someone who keeps a fluid mind and one who observes every little detail that’s around. Every story is evolved from life incidents, so a good story teller can be a good director. A good sto-ry teller must be a good reader to develop the flavor for telling a story that’s likable. It all boils down to how you render the story from your own vantage point. That’s what decides the success of the movie. So all I am saying is you start reading from cinemamatters magazine. :) Lets keep us up-dated about what is going on in the celluloid world.

Happy Reading,Sainthavi

STORYAjay (Siddharth) comes to the temple town of Kasi, where his perception of life and death changes a lot after he meets a young boy.He hides his identity and comes down to Chennai, rents a house owned by a couple S V S Murthy (Mouli) and Jayam (Geetha). He becomes close to them.Ajay’s jolly good nature wins the heart of all including Vidhya (Nithya Menon), a photo journalist.Vidhya gets a rude shock when Ajay leaves Chennai when she pro-poses to him.She meets with an accident and the responsibility is on Ajay to get her back to health. She needs a spine surgery immediately and Ajay is forced to take her to USA.A flashback reveals that Ajay was a doctor in USA and lives a happy life with his wife Renu (Priya Anand). All goes well untill Ajay is diagnosed of cancer. Now back to present. Ajay lands in USA. Did he meet his wife back or get ready to face the destiny? What happens to Vidhya? All answers are arrived at the climax. ANALYSISSiddharth is the hallmark of the movie. He is charming and the scene-stealer. He has performed exceedingly well. Confusions of life are portrayed by him well.Priya Anand has a meaty role and she plays it with aplomb. Debutant (in Kollywood) Nithya Menon sparkles in her role. As a bubbly young photo journalist, she has got under the skin and performed well.Sri Charan as Siddharth’s friend is noteworthy while Mouli deserves all appreciation for delivering a packed performance. Also in the cast are Geetha, Lakshmi Ra-makrishnan, Thanikala Bharani and Janaki Sabesh. The movie is entertaining and the locations and the back-ground score are fresh and new. Balasubramaniam’s camera captures Kasi well and also USA in bright colour.Sharreth’s music add pep to the script. Nootrenbadhu, produced by Agal Movies and Sathyam Cinemas, is a different attempt that is worth a watch, despite a slow second-half.Verdict : Glossy and good

Debutant filmmaker Kulandai Velappan has summoned up courage to make a movie on the dark realities of con-temporary society. The film throws light on how women are being pushed forcefully into the world’s oldest pro-fession.

News about women and child- trafficking hog headlines in the media.

Three cheers to the filmmaker who, with a social respon-sibility, has touched up on the theme.

Aanmai Thavarel is a compilation of events that happen in real life. Arabindhu Sara’s cinematography and V J Sabu’s editing add pep to the proceedings.

Dhruva plays the lead while Sruthi dons the character of a woman kidnapped by a gang with ulterior motives. Vettri (Dhruva) is an executive in a call centre while Ya-muna (Sruthy), his neighbour, works in a BPO. There is romance between them.

One fine day Yamuna goes missing. The issue takes a turn when Yamuna’s mother (Lakshmi Ramakrishnan) prefers a complaint with police. The blame falls on Vettri. But enquiries reveal that she was kidnapped by a gang in a car.

The search begins only to unfold some bitter truths about gangs involved in kidnapping women and push them into the flesh trade.

Vettri takes the help of Charles Anthony (Sampath Raj), former official in Anti- Trafficking department. The search begins in Chennai which eventually after many twists and turns ends in Goa.

Dhruva as a desperate lover searching for his beloved is good. Sruthi is a welcome addition to Tamil cinema. She fits the role well. Sampat Raj as usual stamps his authority playing an ex-police officer.

Producer Redhead Entertainment deserves appreciation for trying their luck with an off-beat theme.

The only eyesore is at few places it goes into a documen-tary mode.Had the director cut down on realism a little, Aanmai Thavarel would have been different. But all said, it is a bold attempt.

Verdict - Old and bold

STORY:

Ganesan is a fun-loving youth whose world are his friends. His father (Jayaprakash) is angry with Ganesan’s callous nature. But a change occurs in Ganesan’s life in the form of Sandhya (Sanchitha Padukone).

She is Ganesan’s sister’s friend who comes on a vacation to the village. At a time when Ganesan falls in love with her, Sandhya falls sick and go unconscious.

Ganesan takes her to hospital. He is shocked when the doctor (Prakashraj) informs that she is affected by can-cer and that she will die in few months. Ganesan in a bid to keep her happy till her death marries her and comes home. What follows is a twist.

ANALYSIS

When emotional dramas are confined only to the small screen, director Thirumalai Kishore has thought other-wise. His maiden venture Pillayar Theru Kadaisi Veedu, a film starring Jithan Ramesh in the lead role, is about a youth caught between his love and relationships.

Though the filmmaker has packed the first half with lighter elements, the latter half takes away all the sheen, for it’s like watching a mega serial with a lot of sentiments and emotions overflowing.

Unlike his earlier ventures, Pillayar Theru Kadisi Veedu provides opportunities in plenty for Jithan Ramesh to prove his acting skills. He excels in dance and stunt se-quences. The good-looking Sanchitha Padukone gets equal screen space and she utilised the opportunity well.

Others in the cast, including Jayaprakash and Ilavarasu, prove yet again why they are the sought-after character artistes in Tamil cinema. Chakri’s music and Panneersel-vam’s cinematography are adequate.

The knot is interesting and the execution is nice. Had only the director cut down an overdose of sentiments towards the climax, Pillayar Theru Kadaisi Veedu would have been a treat to watch.

Verdict: House of sentiments

STORY

Udhayan (Arulnidhi) works with a bank. His colleague (Santhanam) and he spend a leisurely life. One day, Ud-hayan meets Priya (Praneetha) and it’s love at first sight. He expresses his love to her and urges her to marry him.

Meanwhile, a conspiracy hatched by Priya’s father lands Udhayan in trouble. He is forced to shed blood for no mis-take of him. Also, a middle-aged man (Ashish Vidyarthy) comes searching for Udhayan. Secrets unfold one after another.

ANALYSIS

Chaplin, a novice in filmmaking, has managed to render a farily interesting (thouch cliched) tale in Udhayan, with Arulnidhi playing the lead role(s).

Arulnidhi has relished playing a dual role for the first time in his career. He is at ease as a city-bred youth. He romances and does stunts too. Praneetha is cute and vivacious. Santhanam’s one-liners are entertaining. Ash-ish Vidyarthy fits the role well.

Music by Manikanth Kadri (son of saxophone exponent Kadri Gopalnath) and cinematography by Vijay Milton add strength to Udhayan. other technical departments too are okay.

The film proceeds in a lighter vein and takes an action-packed turn as it progresses. The twists, though predict-able, are set at right places and Chaplin’s understanding of audience’s pulses is evident. The last few minutes will satisfy you, if at all scenes before that fail to do it.

Verdict - Neither impressive, nor dissapointing

All hopes are not lost in Tamil cinema. At a time when Kollywood is on a high winning number of national awards, comes Aaranya Kaandam to add more value to the industry and those who love it.

The film is a realistic portrayal of gangs in north Chen-nai, their operations, fights and lives. Hats-off to debutant director Thiyagarajan Kumararaja and producer SPB Charan, for making such a gutsy attempt sans any com-promise.

Hold on! Having said all these, we should also make it clear that the film is not for the soft-hearted. Full of vio-lence, blood shed and crude dialogues, Aaranya Kaan-dam could also instill fear in you in many a place.

Singam Perumal (Jackie Shroff) is a dreaded gangster, who takes care of all illegal activities. His trusted aide is Pasupathi (Sampath Raj), who however wants to capture power from the hands of his boss.

While Singam Perumal tries to spend ‘quality time’ with his mistress Subbu (Yasmeen Ponnappa), she wants to escape from his clutches, with the help of Sappai (Ra-vikrishna), an innocent youngster in the gang.

Comes a plum drug deal which leads to a big war between Singam Perumal and his opponent gang led by Gajen-dran (Rambo Rajkumar). Who emerges victorious at the end with cunning and violent ways is the rest of Aaranya Kaandam, which spills blood on the faces of the audience.

Jackie Shroff does justice to the role with all his experi-ence coming to the help. Sampath Raj is convincing, while Ravikiran, Yasmeen Ponnappa, Rambo Rajkumar and others adding value to their performances.

Yuvanshankar Raja’s music is adequate while Vinod speaks with his lens in an intelligent way. But for the litres of blood flowing on screen, Aaranya Kaandam is a brave and honest attempt, which deserves praise.

Verdict - Game of gore

After watching Naan Kadavul, Balumahendra and Ila-yaraja, the two persons who command enormous respect from Bala, asked the national award winning filmmaker not to do dark films henceforth.

Bala, who had no other option than following the instruc-tion of the two veterans, started Avan Ivan, claiming that it would be a hilarious entertainer, quite contrast to his style. But the end-product makes us to say that Bala has indeed obeyed to Balumahendra and Ilayaraja’s ‘order’, however without much compromise in his stand.

For, Avan Ivan is a commercial movie which has its own dose of ‘Balaism’. Relying heavily on the two protagonists, Vishal and Arya, the film tells us the tale of two youngsters who take the path of violence for a reason.

Walter (Vishal) and Kumbudaren Sami (Arya) are half-brothers, who lead a jolly life in a village near Theni. They have their own interests. While the former aspires to be a popular drama actor, the latter follows his father’s path- petty thefts.

Both are close to a Jameen (G M Kumar), who is the heir of a royal family and is respected by everyone in the family. A good-hearted person, the elderly man complaints to police about the activities of a smuggler (RK), who transports illegally animal to neighbouring States.

After coming out of the prison, the smuggler ensures that the Jameen dies. This brings out the beasts in Walter and Kumbudaren Sami, who vows to avenge the death of their loved man. Did they succeed in their mission is Avan Ivan all about.

Vishal as a squint eyed walks away with honours. He has taken enormous pain to do the role. Arya is cool, casual and performs well too. G M Kumar and RK stand good examples to the good and bad side of the life. There are two heroines (Janani Iyer and Madhu Shalini) who don’t have much say.

Yuvanshankar Raja’s music gives life to a script which is bit outdated. Arthur Wilson’s camera has captured the favourite locales of Bala well. On the whole, Avan Ivan, which is slow at places, is yet another different attempt by Bala. Watch it to feel it.

Atress Vijayalakshmi lodged a complaint on Wednesday with the Chennai city police com-missioner J K Tripathy levelling allegations of exploitation against director and Naam Tamilar Iyakkam chief coordinator Seeman.

According to police sources, Vijayalakshmi said that she knew Seeman personally as a well-known director and a friend.

“Vijayalakshmi has approached the po-lice commissioner to take legal action against Seeman,” a police officer said. She has acted in many movies includ-ing Friends and Boss Engira Baska-ran and also in TV serials.

Meanwhile, Seeman had denied all the allegations as false. Speaking on his behalf, his counsel said, “Vijayalakshmi had met him once asking his help for her sis-ter’s divorce.”

Sources close to Seeman further said that it was an attempt to tar-nish his image in the public for he has been relentlessly voicing for the cause of Lankan Tamils.

Seeman’s Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam will be holding a mega meeting in Chennai on 18 June (today).Says Seeman, ‘the meeting is being organised by Naam Thamizhar Organisation to thank Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for passing a reso-lution in the State Assembly seeking economic sanctions against Sri Lanka for the island govern-ment’s ‘atrocities’ on Tamils.’

He said the war crimes committed by Lankan government has been proved and it’s time to act tough against them. The meeting would be addressed by Seeman, actor Sathyaraj and filmmaker Manivannan among other pro-Tamil speakers from various fields..

Naam Thamizhar co-ordinator and film direc-tor Seeman, reacting to the cheating case filed against him by actress Vijayalakshmi, said that it is a publicity gimmick and she will not be ben-efited by it.

‘Should I spell out the conspiracy behind her complaint against me’, Seeman queried on Sunday and added, ‘people know that politi-cal parties that bit the dust in the Assembly elections are behind it’.

He further said the ‘Naam Thamizhar Movement’ will organise a public meet-ing in Chennai on 18 June to thank Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayala-lithaa for passing a resolution in the State Assembly seeking economic sanctions against Sri Lanka for the island government’s ‘atrocities’ on Tamils.

Amidst reports that direc-tor and co-ordinator of Naam Thamizhar Iyalkkam Seeman would be summoned by the po-lice, he has issued a clarification on Friday over the complaint

against him by actress Vijayalak-shmi.

Speaking to reporters, he said, ‘I gave money to Vijayalakshmi many times

since 2008 to help tide over financial crises. Apart from that there is no other relationship

between us. This is what she has given me in return.’

Saying that he would not run anywhere, the founder of Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam said that he would not approach the court for anticipatory bail. ‘I will face the case legally,’ he said. Actress Vijayalakshmi of Friends and Boss Engira Baskaran fame came to the Chennai city Police Commissioner’s office Wednesday afternoon and submitted a petition against Seeman. Her four-page complaint drafted in English said that the popular filmmaker had refused to marry her after maintaining relationship for the past few years.

After joining hands with Suriya in Singam, it’s now the turn of Anushka to share the screen space with his sibling Karthi. She has agreed to be Karthi’s heroine in a film to be directed by Suraj.

Anushka will be playing the female lead in this yet-to-be-titled film. Karthi is currently busy with Shankar Dayal’s Saguni. He’s also tied up with his wed-ding preparations with Ranjini, which will take place in the first week of July.

He will start shooting with Anushka once Saguni’s shoot is over, say sources in the know. Anushka, who was last seen in Vaan-am opposite SIlambarasan, is eagerly awaiting the release of Deiva Thirum-agal. The movie stars Vikram, Amala Paul, Santhanam and Anushka in key roles

Buzz is that popular Telugu and Tamil actress Anushka is engaged to Telugu superstar Nagarjuna’s son Naga Chaitan-ya, who played the lead role in Ye Maya Chesave, the Telugu version of Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya.

Anushka is on a purple patch rendering back-to-back hits in both the languages. Naga Chaitanya is slowly rising the ladder of fame with decent hits in Tollywood.

According to the grapevine, both got en-gaged to each other in a secret ceremony held very much in private between the two families. However efforts to contact both went in vain.

Interestingly Anushka had taught yoga to Naga Chaitanya and had acted in maxi-mum number of movies with Nagarjuna.

Popular Bollywood star Vivekl Oberoi was in the temple town of Rameswaram to offer prayers along with his wife Pri-yanka.

The 34-year-old actor, who married Priyanka Alva last year at a ceremony marked by the razzmatazz of the tinsel town, credited his wife with the positive change in his life.

‘Marriage is an absolute bliss. I was commitment phobic and remained sin-gle for almost 5-6 years. But when I met Priyanka things changed completely. I am a very different person now. And all the credit goes to her,’ Vivek said.

The ‘Dhinka Chinka’ star Salman Khan took Chennai by storm on Wednesday as he arrived to take part in the audio launch of Fefsi Vijayan’s Markandya, a movie that marks the launch of the stunt master’s son Sabarish in the lead role.

Arriving on a chartered flight from Patiala, where he was shooting for a movie, Salman Khan, said, ‘it gives me great pleasure to attend the event. FEFSI Vijayan is not just a stunt master but a great human being. and I am happy and thrilled to be at the event.’

Vijay, who received the first copy of the audio from Salman Khan, said, ‘ I saw the trailers and songs. I am thoroughly impressed. I wish Sabarish all the best’.

After A R Rahman, it’s now the turn of Harris Jeyaraj to go on a World Tour. The music director, who has his hands full with movies like Nanban, 7Am Arivu, Mattraan and Oru Kal Oru Kanna-di, will embark on a music tour across the globe from 2 October.

Meanwhile, he has completed musical score for 7Am Arivu, which is he is planning to re-lease shortly.

Starring Suriya and Sruthi Haasan in the lead roles, the audio of 7Am Arivu has seven tracks that includes a Chinese song. Sruthi Haasan has also sung a song.

Harris Jayaraj had recently been to Ooty to compose tunes for direc-tor Rajesh’s Oru Kal Oru Kan-nadi. Known for his soft talk, his music always had a charm on youngsters. Recently his songs in Engeyum Kadhal and Ko had topped the charts.

Director Kathir and music composer A R Rahman, one of the most successful combos in Kol-lywood, may join hands once again. The Kadhal Desam, Kadhalar Dhinam and Kadhal Virus duo may come together for a film titled Kodai Vidumarai.

After a decade-long break, Kathir is now back with the project, which went on floors Monday. An interesting thing about the movie is that its newspaper advertisements did not feature the name of any music composer.

When probed the reason, circles close to Kathir said, ‘Because Kathir is waiting for Rahman. He has urged the Oscar-Grammy winner to compose music for Kodai Vidumarai but yet to get consent from him.’Confirming this, Kathir said, Rahman is currently busy with his international commitments. However I will try my best to rope in for Kodai Vidumarai, which is a beautiful campus love story.’

Call it a breather for Sun Pictures and its managing director Kalanithi Maran. In the En-thiran copyright fiasco, the Madras High Court stayed criminal proceedings against the media baron, on a complaint against him alleging of-fences under IPC and Copyrights Act.

A local court had last month issued summons to Kalanithi and the film’s director Shankar to ap-pear before it on 24 June in connection with the complaint by a Tamil writer alleging the two had committed piracy and cheating offences

In his complaint, the writer Aarur Tamil-nadan said that he wrote a short story Jugiba which was published in Tamil magazine Iniya Udayam in April 1996. He claimed the film was based on his story and Shankar and Ka-lanithi had violated copyright act by using his story.

Along with his actor-brother Jithan Ramesh, the Ko star will soon start a new production house, which will ini-tially make ad films and off-beat mov-ies.

‘It is my longtime wish to start a pro-duction company. And it is coming true now with the blessings of my dad and support from my fam- ily mem-bers. I am thrilled,’ says Jiiva.

Jiiva, who says he would like to maintain a balance between seri-ous and commercial mov-ies, adds that all that he wants is to establish himself as an actor who could do any type of roles.

Sons and daughters of popular film personalities entering cinema is no new news. Adding to the list would be Vijayakanth’s son Shanmuga Pandian.

Ajith Kumar, director Venkat Prabhu and other team members are busy shooting the re-maining scenes and climax of Mankatha on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

With Mankatha almost complete, Ajith will commence his next Billa 2 soon. Ajith plays a role with negative shades and is upbeat that Mankatha will taste success.

The movie reportedly touches upon betting in sports and Ajith plays an underworld don. Tri-sha plays his heroine, while Lakshmi Rai and Arjun do pivotal roles.

Talking about his 50th film, the Thala says, ‘This is not only a milestone film for me

but for the entire production unit. This is a challenging film and everyone is

working hard for the best results. I get emotional thinking about all those fans who have stood by me through the highs and lows of my career. I hope they enjoy watch-

ing Mankatha.

After bike-racer Ajith turned actor, comes Dilip Rogers following his foot-steps. The popular bike racer will be making his foray on big screen with Udumban, a movie by G Balan.Says the director, ‘it is a film that is set in dry barren rural land. There are enough twists and turns in the script’.

We have touched up on a sensitive issue that created furore in Tamlnadu a few years ago and offered a solution in the film, he adds.

On choosing Dilip Rogers for the lead role, he says, ‘We wanted a well-built youth to play the lead in Udumban. I happened to see the country’s popular bike racer Dilip Rogers and had no hesita-tion in casting him as hero’.

Dilip Rogers got trained in dancing and stunts be-fore shooting for the movie. Newcomer Sana will be playing the heroine

He said, ‘acting is new to me. But thanks to the encouragement and support of my director, I man-aged to pull it off’. Quite appropriate to the title, a monior lizard would play a part of the film.

Prayers and poojas for Superstar Rajinikanth’s speedy recovery still continues in various parts of the world.

Joining those who are organising mass prayers for the Superstar’s good health is producer Sutha (owner of SS Movies UK Ltd.) and her team, who held a special pooja at the Sri Sakthi Velan temple in Ilford, London.

They wholeheartedly prayed for Rajni to recover from his present illness and get back to the best of health. Rajni fans from all over the UK gathered at the temple to invoke the blessings of the Gods to bring the matinee idol back to full health.Meanwhile, at Chennai’s popular Mosque ion Mount Road, fans gatheredin large numbers to offer their prayers for Rajini. They held special worship on the occasion.

Superstar Rajinikanth, who is admitted to a hos-pital in Singapore, is reportedly doing yoga in early mornings.

Sources in Singapore said Rajnikanth has recovered fast and is doing yoga and some minor exercises. They are said there is no need for kidney transplant.

‘Rajini will be discharged soon and will stay at a service apartment where is family members are currenty staying. He will return India only after a couple of weeks,’ say sources.

Rajinikanth had suffered from exhaustion on April 29, the first day of the shoot of his latest venture Raana, and was admitted to the Isabel Hospital in Chennai. From then on, he is continuously being hospitalised and was taken to Singapore a couple of weeks ago.

There were reports that Rajinikanth’s magnum-opus Rana would be shelved, courtesy the health condition of the Superstar.

However, Murali Manohar, co-producer of Rana has denied reports that the film has been shelved. He says shooting has only been temporarily sus-pended.

Rajnkanth fell ill during the first day’s shooting of Rana in April end and has not been keeping well since.

‘It is a baseless rumour that Rana would be aban-doned. This is Rajni sir’s dream film and it will be made at any cost. The shooting involving Rajini is likely to commence from September,’ said Mano-har.

‘The film’s shooting has only been temporarily suspended due to Rajini’s ill health. Now that he is recovering fast, the shooting is likely to commence soon,’ he clarified.

Superstar Rajnikjanth, who was discharged from Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on Wednesday, immediately chose to call up Tamil-nadu Chief Minister J jayalalitha and congratu-lated her for becoming the Chief Minister for the third time.

An official press release from government said, ‘Rajinikanth on his discharge from hospital called up Jayalalithaa and thanked her for enquir-ies about her health to his wife (Latha).

Rajinikanth further conveyed through the phone that Tamilnadu will be now saved thanks to Jay-alalithaa assuming the mantle of Chief Minister’.Latha Rajinikanth also thanked Jayalalithaa for mak- ing frequent enquiries about the progress of the Su-perstar ’s health condition.

Popular Telugu actor Chiranjeevi flew all the way to Singapore recently to call on his good-friend, Superstar Rajnikanth

Following the news that Rajinikanth has been dis-charged from Mount Elizabeth Hospital and he is staying at a service apartment, Chiranjeevi went knocking at Rajini’s doorsteps to enquire about his health.

Chiranjeevi and Rajinikanth are close friends and they acted together in a couple of movies.

The Tamil superstar, who had suffered from ex-haustion on April 29, the first day of the shoot of his latest venture Rana, was admitted to a couple of Chennai hospitals, before he went to Singapore in the last week of May.

It’ a great news for Rajnikanth fans. The actor, who was admitted to a private hospital in Singa-pore for nephrological problems, was discharged Wednesday.

Rajnikanth’s son-in-law and actor Dhanush had tweeted in his micro-blogging site that ‘Superstar discharged from hospital last evening. He has re-covered completely and taking rest...Soon national award celebrations for me’,

The actor, after his discharge, was staying in a state-of-the-art apartment and was likely to return to Chennai next month. He would be staying there for periodic check ups.

As there were widespread rumours after his health condition, scores of his fans performed special poojas in temples and churches for the speedy re-covery of the actor.

Vijaya Productions’ forthcoming Tamil film Ven-gai, directed by Hari starring Dhanush in the lead role, is on a sticky wicket. Buzz is that the movie’s release might be delayed as it has been given a stay by the Madras high court due to a contesting claim on the title by another production house.

Justice V Ramasubramanian passed the order on an application in a suit filed by Eka Chakra Me-dia (P) Ltd, the plaintiff. The company said based on its application, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) had registered the title Vengai in August last year. The registration was valid for one year and a further renewal of six months.

It had also given news about the title and about the commencement of shooting of a film as Ven-gai. However, Vijaya Productions, director Hari and Sun Pictures, which had purchased the nega-tive rights, had given the title to a film as Vengai, to be released in July, knowing fully well that the title had already been registered by ECML.

Passing orders, Justice V Ramasubramanian said that despite the title having been registered in fa-vour of Kalaiselvam, the very same name had been given to the film made by Vijaya Productions and the latter is slated for release in July, 2011.

Vivek turns a monk

Lingusamy speaks less and works more. A ‘Man with Midas Touch’, he has managed to render blockbusters regularly. He is keen to repeat the act with Vettai that stars Madhavan, Sameera Reddy, Arya and Amala Paul.

Says Lingusamy, ‘Madhavan and Arya deserve aco-lades. They play brothers and never had any ego shar-ing the screen’.

Yuvanshankar joins hands with Lingusamy again for Vettai and the director vouches that music would be the high point.

‘We have to better the songs in Paiyaa and hence we are working tirelessly day and night’, he adds.

Though he would had a dismal outing playing the lead role earlier, comedian Vivek is trying his hands at it again. Vivek is all set to play the protagonist in a film titled Naangu Murai. To be produced and directed by yesteryear hero Ramki, the movie would be a laugh-riot.

‘Vivek plays a thief in this film. To escape from the the police, he wears the attire of a Chinese monk. Initially he thought of don-ning the dress of a Hindu saint, but dropped the idea since it may hurt the sentiments of the people here,’ say sources
