MAYORAL MESSAGE Well here we are and it’s already March, after a record heatwave across our Shire. I only hope that you have received some relief from the rain and cooler weather.

On Wednesday, 1 March, I was honoured to be in attendance to witness our Local Member, Hon Thomas George MP, awarding Mrs Julia Harpham as The Lismore Electorate Women of the Year (pictured on front cove). Julia is also a Finalist for the State Award and she and husband Philip were Tenterfield community’s Citizens of the Year for 2017 for their work in relocating refugee families to Mingoola and saving the local school.

I know Julia is very humbled by these Awards and as Mayor, on behalf of our community, I wish her well in Sydney this week. Last week was a busy week with the Bavarian Brass Band visiting (pictured on front cover). What wonderful guests they are and I hope everyone had the opportunity to hear their stirring music.

Until next time. Peter Petty Mayor
